With regards to illegal immigration: If the government has committed treason against its citizens by failing to guarantee the preservation of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, is it the Right of the People to alter or abolish it?

No, I don’t believe such a drastic measure is necessary. We simply need a political purge. We need to rid Congress of the greedy, quisling, pandering, do-nothings, who ignore the will of their constituents, and who vote according to the dictates of the highest special interest bidder. We are no longer being represented by members of Congress from either side of the aisle. If we allow this to continue, we have only ourselves to blame for the destruction of our country.

You are using the Declaration of Independence...A non binding document, with no legal standing in American Jurisprudence, whos sole purpose was to point out the justifcations of our separation from a King and his power...as basis for US Immigration reform?

I like your style...very "Dramatic". But, I dont think a Our Government can be charged with treason...Treason is usually reserved for those that commit acts against the Nation. Acts of War, Espionage, and giving of aid and comfort to our enemies; both Foriegn and Domestic.

Unequivocally, the Declaration of Independence is a fundamental document of American democracy. It empowered the American people to rise up against foreign influences and to ultimately place the future of their nation in their own hands. More importantly, the document defines the would-be government as a second-hand creation which derives it's power from the consent of the governed.

Not sure what country you're originally from, 1751texan, but my point is that at the end of the day, the U.S. government was instituted to serve We the People, and not the plethora of foreign special interests which attempt to derail our political processes on a daily basis.

My homeland has no barring on the Fact that the DoI is just that, a declaration, and nothing more...

The Federal Government is not Our butler, its not here to service us. The U.S. Constitution although, does reiterate Our Unalienable rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness; And has the Authority of Law.
