Immigrant rights groups say President Obama has bought himself some breathing space after a tense meeting Thursday, but that the White House will have to show real progress on an immigration bill by March 21 when tens of thousands of immigrant rights marchers are scheduled to rally in Washington.
Mr. Obama met Thursday with immigrant rights activists, then later met with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and with Sens. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, and Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, who are working on a bipartisan bill to legitimize the status of the 11 million illegal immigrants now in the country.
The president said the meetings were a chance to get a progress update, adding that he will "continue to be their partner in this important effort."

Notice the word "immigrant" being used throuout this? "Immigrant marches, immigrant right's activists, immigrant groups, etc."? This has nothing to do with "immigrants". This is all about illegal aliens. Why do they have to resort to dishonesty to get their points across?

Because, if they were forthright, they realize the bill would be DOA. Then again, how does one defend lawlessness without resorting to character assassination of one’s opponents, and outright lies and deception?

Because they have no point except to reward criminal behavior, far above any reward a legal citizen would receive if anything but jail time. The creative wording of pro-illegal alien activists keeps them from further enraging Americans, specifically those who have no grasp of the concept, illegal "immigrant". I say this in response to several conversations I've had with those who believed "immigrants" should have amnesty. Once they were enlightened regarding legality, fraud, SS abuse, etc. they said oh! he!! no! Illegal is a one word sentence which cannot be disputed, to add that to immigrant would certainly allow a full understanding of the issue, IMO.
The United States is the only nation on the planet where illegal immigrants have just as many rights if not more than the legal citizens that inhabit the country.
1. US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
2. US Immigration and Customs Enforcment (ICE)
3. US Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
Notice- no use of the word illegal in any of the sub departments' titles...
Oh, but they did prior to Sotomayor’s historic use of the term “undocumented” in her opinion. Shortly thereafter, the agencies you referenced changed their terminology. Although the term “illegal alien” had been used for years, including by the SCOTUS, once she included undocumented in a legal opinion, illegal alien became a derogatory term. After all, only racists and xenophobes refer to illegal aliens as illegal aliens.
Those "immigrant activists" are probably going to vote for Obama anyway, as he is the lesser of the two evils to them
With the exception of gay marriage and abortion, most illegal immigrants are pretty much politically left of Mao Zedong on every other issue, especially fiscal issues, because for them the bigger government gets the better. They sure do love the idea of a nanny state. So ofcourse like 99.99% of them are going to be diehard Democrats if they were all granted U.S citizenship. Once all the millions and millions of illegal immigrants are granted U.S citizenship, expect the U.S to become a nation that only has a 1 party system. That will spell the end of political diversity in America.
