After a few examples of stiff penalties these people will stop hiring illegals, i say probation and large fines for the first offence and jail time and loss of the buisness for the second offence

I agree with "torn2pieces".

Big fines and stand on a local street corner for one year with a sign saying " I was bad and I hired illegals and was fined for doing so and you too could be here with this sign, So don't hire illegals"

The Sioux Falls restaurant manager who pleaded guilty to hiring illegal aliens has been sentenced.

Oscar Cadena received a $3000 fine for his part in hiring illegals to work at the Inca Mexican restaurant. On top of the fine, Cadena was also sentenced to four years of probation.

The restaurant's owner, Julio Espino, also pleaded guilty. He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he's sentenced June 25th.
Hold on folks, it says nowhere how good the food at the Inca was!!! YES, I'm kidding...only kidding. If they both plead guilty and if the fine and jail time fall within guidelines, oh well....maybe he'll (they'll) have time to think about it while doing their time. Lets wait till sentencing and see what happens...I'll bet its probation. Jammie, will you keep us all posted upon sentencing?

I agree a $250,000 fine for each illegal hired. That would be a deterrent.

Yup, I sure will. I already have June 25th marked on my calendar so I remember to read the paper and listen to the news.

Many Businesses have said that a $250,000 fine is just the cost of doing business.

That could be true for some of the large companies, but this doesn't appear to be a chain or anything~just a small business owner.

I still have to laugh about the comments about the "Geography lesson". Yea, it should really be Mexican Aztecs or Peruvian Incas. Guess they just weren't thinking when they named their place either.

You fine them that for EACH illegal, I think you'll get their attention. I big company with say 250 illegals working there ... that $250K fine is now $62,500,000.00 fine ... that will make them set up and take notice.
