Prenatal compromise stumbles - Omaha.com

Quote:
Advocates for the prenatal care have said that unborn children will automatically become U.S. citizens upon their birth, even if their parents are here illegally, and that it makes sense to spend money on prenatal care to avoid more expensive deliveries, premature births and birth defects.

Heineman and other have argued that those here illegally should not receive taxpayer-funded benefits.
Another reason to have our Constitution clearly amended so that misinterpretation abuse discontinues.

I just do not understand what all the argument is about.

the anti-illegals crowd claim they have no fight with poor people, except if Anti crowd can stop funding for illegal immigrants and poor women at the same time...Punishing the illegal alien mother is more important than the Prenatal care of poor American Women and their children.

LINCOLN -- Gov. Dave Heineman has rejected a proposed compromise to the controversial resumption of government-paid prenatal care for low income women, including hundreds here illegally.

As originally drafted, it would have restored government-funded prenatal care in response to a federal directive that, as of March 1, ended such services for about 1,500 pregnant women, including about 800 illegal immigrants.

So poor women and children suffer because the money may also go to illegal woman, and soon to be American Citizen children.

So the logic of the Anti-illegal crowd...deny 2300 americans prenatal care to punish 800 pregnant illegal alien women.

Hate for the illegals, and indefference to Amercan poor.

I have no problem denying birthright citizenship for an Anchor Baby. Since the US born children of foreign diplomats are specifically excluded from birthright; why in hell are the children of a bunch of people who have no right to be here in the first place given the above perk, rhetorically speaking?

Punishing........... Oh that's a hoot. Keeping a thief from stealing is a punishment? Here I always thought punishment was something you received after your crime, not something that safe guards you from doing the crime. Can I get a copy of your rose colored Dictionary?

These pregnant women here illegally should be sent back to their homelands so they can receive care and citizenship for their babies there. It is ridiculous to expect us to foot the bill for their care and then wait for them to give birth so their child gains instant citizenship and welfare till they are 18 years old. When will this madness end??

Did you notice that more than half of the pregnant women in question are here illegally? Perhaps that’s the reason the state is experiencing a deficit which necessitates such measures. Eliminate illegals, and there would be enough funds for the women who “should” be receiving these benefits. It’s the same story nationwide. Due to massive illegal immigration, benefits intended for U.S. citizens are jeopardized.

Case in point: the kidney dialysis clinic in Atlanta. This clinic had served the indigent community for over 100 years. Now, due to being overwhelmed by illegals, they have been forced to close. Consequently, everyone loses. Why should our citizens continue to suffer simply to accommodate people who should not be here? This is insane. No other country would deprive its own citizens for the sake of foreign intruders.

Wrong. They won’t be “just like me.” My parents are/were legal citizens of this country. My mother doesn’t fear ICE or deportation.
