WASHINGTON, March 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After the collapse of the Senate amnesty bill in 2007, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) joined with the National Council of La Raza and others to launch a campaign to smear the three largest mainstream groups making a case for tighter enforcement and lower immigration. At the center of this campaign was the designation of the Federation for American Immigration Reform as a "hate group" and the spread of that taint to NumbersUSA and the Center for Immigration Studies. The announced goal was to pressure journalists and policymakers not to meet or speak with these organizations. Touted as an effort to "stop the hate," it was a thinly disguised move to stifle debate.

The Center for Immigration Studies has released a new report examining the SPLC and its role in this campaign. "Immigration and the SPLC: How the Southern Poverty Law Center Invented a Smear, Served La Raza, Manipulated the Press, and Duped its Donors," authored by Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Jerry Kammer, now a Senior Research Fellow at CIS, is now online at Immigration and the SPLC: How the Southern Poverty Law Center Invented a Smear, Served La Raza, Manipulated the Press, and Duped its Donors | Center for Immigration Studies.

The report concludes that the SPLC smear campaign, "demonstrates that the Southern Poverty Law Center has become a peddler of its own brand of self-righteous hate. It is a center of intolerance, marked by a poverty of ideas, a dependence on dishonesty, and a lack of fundamental decency."

It has been shown time and again such groups advocating for the legalization of illegal aliens lack Scruples among other things. As usual, they lack any credible fact in their campaigns. These are the same groups held in high regard by illegal aliens, common fraudulent mindset, which only continues to hold their own "people" down by further exploitative practices, which is backed up by fact.

That is exactly what the pro-illegal groups and individuals do. They label any opposition to their agenda as haters to shut down debate because they have no viable defense for supporting illegal aliens in our country.

Can you imagine the "hate" if la raza actually posted factual data regarding the expense of illegal aliens being here? Of course they won't; they want their careers to flourish and be damned the rest of America, even illegal aliens. As long as illegal aliens are here and stealing, they have a job, once they leave, their dollars dwindle. Hate is also a term used in the WH by those la raza members appointed into our own government.

Obviously, their minions have been instructed to spread the hate propaganda on internet forums. They canít explain why opposition to illegal immigration is ďhateĒ because they have yet to receive those instructions. All they can do is incessantly accuse us of being haters, xenophobes, and racists. In reality, they are the true conveyers of hate.

Interesting how on the Forums whenever I refer to illegal aliens as criminals.........it leave the pro illegal alien pervayers (sp) of the word 'hate' flat footed.

The The Center for Immigration Studies (the author of the report above) and the Southern Poverty Law Center are bitter enemies; the SPLC wrote reports saying that the CIS was a part of an organized efforts by White supremacists, and the CIS countercharged. I am not surprised that the CIS would criticize the SPLC and vice versa.

This is the same SPLC that wrote about Latino hate crimes against Blacks in Los Angeles...

To judge whether things by one side or another are a fabrication, we should go through the points one by one. We could also see if the SPLC responds to the FAIR report and compare and contrast what they posted. We are talking about two organizations who are opposed to one another, so both will criticize each other.

The SPLC, in tandem with La Raza, launched a campaign against ALL opponents of illegal immigration. The CIS and FAIR aren't their only targets.

Iím glad you mentioned the incident in LA. Most pro-illegals vehemently deny these allegations. Itís interesting that they believe the SPLC regarding anti-illegal organizations, yet consider their claims against Latinos as unfounded. What is your opinion?
