I heard this being discussed on AM Coast to Coast last nite with George Noori. At first I thought it was possible any extremsist, leftwinger or rightwinger, could be capable of killing somebody to make political gain and especially to make the other side look bad. But the details look more towards an illegal or possible drug smuggler killing the man. He may have shown compassion for them in the past but he had problems with them.
This is a tragedy but hopefully will get the need to close the borders and to stop illegal immigration back in the headlines.

The rancher was, according to the news reports, not killed by an illegal immigrant, which is what this forum is about. He was apparently killed by a criminal, the ethnicity of which is un important, thousands of people are killed by criminals in this country each year.
and Yes, your Saint Patrick's day cabbage had an 80% chance of having been picked by an illegal.
You see, in theory there is no difference between theory and practice, in practice there is.
While the illegal immigration opponents have every right to their opinion, the fact remains that they are dependent on those illegals currently in the nation for their food.
You may have a garden, you may have some cabbages, you may have a ranch, you may have some cows, but, few people, if any in this nation feed themselves off their own land and that would include the cabbage/cow grower.
If you eat fresh or frozen or canned vegetables or fruit, or if you drink store bought beer, or drink store bought wine, you are benefitting from illegal labor. Those are simple facts.
You who rail against illegal immigration, should instead, act on your convictions and come up with actual workable substitutes, on these pages I read rants, most of them think shipping the illegals back to Mexico would solve the problem. Well it would, but it would create other problems that make the illegal problem pale in comparison.

i feel very sorry for americans living in the border towns, since this was today's news:
FOXNews.com - Texas Town on High Alert as Mexican Town Across Border Braces for Cartel Gun Battle
At least 30 residents of El Porvenir, located about four miles from the Texas border town of Fort Hancock, have crossed into the U.S. and asked for political asylum, telling authorities that they fear for their lives.
more mouths to feed.

how is it that another country's labor problem becomes our problem? let them figure it out since we have our own issues to work on.
yes, shipping them back to mexico would indeed solve the problem from a labor perspective in our country. maybe mexico would be forced to get rid of their corruption and the politicians stealing the oil revenue if they did not have the united states for their safety valve.

'Illegal immigrant' is not a race, nor is it an ethnicity. The legal status of the perp has not been officially determined, as far as I recall, since the IDENTITY of the perp has not been identified as of yet either. Considering the evidence of the case so far, it is however a fairly reasonable guess that the person who committed this crime was not authorized to be here.
Clearly, someone who thinks 'illegal immigrant' and 'criminal' are mutually exclusive terms and believes his business cannot survive without exploiting underclassed people illegally present in out country needs to do some introspection before they can make a valid point in this thread.

Fox News did a story on this. No outrage on this manner. For those of you who think illegals do no criminal acts here, think again. I for one am sick of illegals, being in this Country, having rights, and commiting acts of violence.

Facts? While your facts may be true for some people in some areas it is not true of all 50 states and all towns accross America.
What would happen if Illegals got the boot? America would do what we do best. Adapt.
Imagine forcing the corporate farms to pay a fair wage? Imagine forcing Hotels to hire only legals? Would prices double? NO because the wages would not double. Save the scare tactics for the impressionable. We need illegals like we need more criminals. Oh wait one and the same. Let me try again.
We need illegals like we need more unemployment.
