An even better law would be to go after the businesses that employ illegal immigrants. Charge one, big fine. Charge two, even bigger fine. Charge three, huge fine and loss of business license.
I would support this. Employers are already required to gather such documentation on employees and face consequences for not doing so; the law just needs to be better enforced.
I would NOT support a new law that requires us to sacrifice our Constitutional principles by indiscriminately subjecting all legitimate Hispanic-Americans to second-class citizen treatment in order to get at the illegals.
That I would much rather live with immigrants legal or illegal than Stormfronters and Klansmen like the ones who produced Arizona's bill. They don't stink up the room.
That clear it up for you?

Who says that people will be randomly stopped because of color? That's not what is being done. But if you apply for a job in Arizona, then you have to prove that you are either a legal resident, or a US citizen. Also, if you are driving in Arizona and break some traffic law, you present the police with your driver's license and vehicle registration upon request. If you are just visiting Arizona and aren't a resident of the State, your driver's license will indicate so.
That may not be what is happening now, but that is what the new law opens the door to do, and it will happen until the Supreme Court shoots it out of the saddle.
Applying for a job may require ID. That is entirely reasonable.
"Walking And Minding Own Business While Brown-skinned" should not be considered a crime.
Read your Fourth Amendment before you decide you want to give it up. It's there to protect you, too.
Like you belong in this country? Can you speak English? Are you loitering around on street corners waiting for a job?
I wonder if anyone has even bothered to read the bill or is this another hysterical party by the Left?

If you are here legally and fail to carry your "green card", you will be fined, but that really hasn't changed because you are required to carry your green card anyway.
I just thought of something;
Obama wants us all to "prove" we have purchased HC insurance, but he doesn't think people here in the US illegally should "prove" they belong here.
Back to the subject of the thread, how should an American of hispanic descent dress when visiting Arizona, to avoid an all expenses paid tour of Nogales.
I still go with a black wig and trying to pass as Navajo

when stopped...tell them you are Geronimo...and they need to learn your language and assimilate to your culture.
and if they don't like it...they can create a Fifth-Columbus-Voyage back to their Europe.

I'm thinking of dressing up as an old white man who lost the election and can't accept it. I'll be the one wandering around muttering about pork. They'll love me!
I'm going to the grand canyon as a tourist with a camera should be fun. dont let me down wear your costumes
