It’s about time! They need to hit all illegal employers hard. The routine slap on the wrist is a joke, and the primary reason companies continue to ignore our laws.
Where I live (Cochise County Arizona) the owner of a Dry Wall company was actively recruiting illegals in Mexico and arrainging housing for them. He is doing 2 years in jail
This is the route I prefer - get the employer and also stop the welfare handouts of every kind.
You almost can't blame the illegal for accepting a job and coming here when the employers actually go to their villages to recruit them and promise them everything great, even getting them the stolen ID's.
How arrogant these owners are. They've been getting no match letters for years and have just flaunted it.
They aren't so cocky now.
They have been getting away with it -- it's all about the ultra cheap labor and having a subservient workforce.
Very often the employers are doing all the negotiating with organized crime rings that obtain the stolen identifications for the illegals they have human traffickers smuggle in for them.
Follow the money -- that's what is behind all this. The employers who want to pay less than legal wages, ignore labor laws of all kinds. All the way down to the legally here guy who accepts $20 an hour to do tractor work but then pays some illegal $4 or $5 to do the work while he lays around watching television the whole time.
It's the acceptable (to many) modern form of slavery.

Although I agree with you most of the time why should illegals get a pass when they know what they are doing is wrong?
I know a lot of people who would LOVE to have a job at a "high-end French cuisine" restaurant and they are legal residents or US Citizens. Once again, illegal immigrants, doing jobs that legal residents WILL do. Shoot, one of the places I was looking at to move to was near or in San Diego and having a part-time job to save up some money while there would be great! But, an illegal immigrant has that job, so I can't get it.

All LE needs to do is make a few examples of the above miscreant business owners and most of the remainder will immediately toe the line. Note Boys Ranch Market here in Arizona letting go 20% of its workforce at about the exact time that HB 1070 was passed. Coincidence much?

Maybe because a greater burden should be placed on a business owner, because he has the ability to hire and fire and keep his business legal.
Gone are the days of "His Documents" looked good. Why didnt Sheriff Joe Arpaio go after the Businesses in Miracopa Co. as hard, in light of the facts that more than 50% of Arizona businesses hire undocumented workers.
Sheriff Joe has been making it very clear that aliens dont get a pass. He just hasnt been as vigil on businesses in his county.
