No, but if someone is found murdered (or a kid is missing), the police head to the criminals in the area to search their homes first.

The reality is that there are tons of illegal immigrants in this country and depending on where you are located in the country, an illegal immigrant might look different. In Seattle, there are many illegal immigrants from Asia, for example. In Arizona, most of the illegals are Hispanic. That's just a fact. I suppose if you're British and you're hear illegally, you'll probably be able to live here forever without being asked to provide papers.

I lived in Arizona for 14 years. My mother-in-law was born there as was my husband and my daughter. Most Arizonans understand the desire of people who live in Mexico to have a better life and contrary to what the media will tell you, are not callous towards those wanting to contribute to society and work hard.

But that's not what's happening in Arizona right now.

What's happening are shootouts on the freeways between rival "Coyote" gangs who want to take the vans full of illegal immigrants and hold them ransom until their family members pay up. It's the fact that Phoenix has surpassed Bogota, Columbia with the 2nd highest kidnappings in the world. It's quiet neighborhoods being used as illegal immigrant "holding" pens where foreclosed homes are being taken over by gangs who hold illegals for ransom. It's the rampant drug violence that is spilling over to the streets. It's the police officers being shot when trying to pull over a moving van that is full of illegal immigrants. It's the rancher, a man who would put out jugs of water because he worried for the immigrants trying to cross that they would die of dehydration, being shot in cold blood. Not everyone is coming to Arizona to work hard and provide a good life for their families.

Drugs and violence go hand-in-hand and after decades of doing nothing in Washington DC (both political parties share the blame here), Arizonans have had to take their state back. What's pathetic is Janet Napolitano, former do-nothing governor of Arizona, calling this bill "unfortunate." Well, Janet...what do you suppose Arizonans do now that you walk the hallowed halls in DC? Seems she thought enough of the illegal immigration problem to call the National Guard to the border but can't seem to wrap her mind around the fact that it's only getting worse and since DC doesn't seem to want to do anything about it (God forbid they lose a few electoral votes), the states who are suffering the most from the affects of a wide open border will have to do it for them.

Why will it be a "trip"? Would you use the same argument for a black police officer and say that he/she would never arrest a black person? What about a white police officer never arresting a white person? There are a lot of border patrol agents who are Hispanic because they understand the definition of doing the right thing. The border patrol also needs people who speak Spanish...seems to make sense that they would have high numbers of Hispanic officers.

If someone is doing their job as they should be, skin color will take a backseat to behavior. It's insulting for you to imply that a Hispanic cop is somehow so "blinded" by wanting to side with their fellow Hispanic brother/sister that they will overlook the fact that they are here illegally. Plenty of people (many of my in-laws) are Hispanic and have been American citizens for generations. They are the most outspoken ones for the bill. Their family members did what they had to do to become American citizens and aren't sympathetic to people who want to circumvent the system.

BTW, do you suppose the Hispanic cop that got hit in the head with a bottle at today's rally against the immigration policy thought, "oh well, the bottle thrower was Hispanic"? Do you think the bottle thrower gave a rat's arse that the cop they purposefully hit was Hispanic and just doing their job?

I'm actually rather surprised. He captures a lot of my feelings regarding this issue.

You know what, thank you for understanding this problem that exists, that is so pesky. Absoutely right, People whether they know it or not, do some sort of racial profiling every day. And when you say if not now, then when, most people want it to get so out of control, before any thing is done, people are turning a blinds eye to this problem. If you knew of someone who was murdered by a freaking illegal, you would want this problem solved !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gosh dang Arizona has the ---- to stand up to what our own Governement cannot. Cowards our Federal Govenment is. And this problem will get much worse, and when it does, don't ----.

Phoenix has become the kidnapping capital second only to Mexico City of the world. You really have to wonder about the politicians that sat by and allowed that to happen.

And if they're concerned about rights, what about the right not to be kidnapped by a human trafficker, be tortured or have your family told to pay up or else? The right not to be kept prisoner in some Phoenix drop house?

And you won't see a single pop celebrity condemn that kind of thing, they only care about so-called rights when the cameras are out and it's politically correct enough.

If you take the idea of illegal immigration out and instead use the simple example of crime, you can see how it became out of control.

If you move to a quiet, safe neighborhood that never had any criminal behavior and then a new neighbor moves in and suddenly, people's homes are being vandalized, drugs are being sold, cars are being broken into...you've got two choices. Either you can ignore the problem and hope it goes away (it won't) or you can step up, call the police when you see something suspicious, and get your neighbors to "take back the neighborhood." If you do nothing, it's only going to get worse. If you do something, it may be an uphill battle for a while, but eventually the criminal behavior will stop. There is nothing like a community getting together to say "enough is enough" before those criminals move somewhere else that people aren't as observant.

Arizona is the poster child of doing nothing about criminal activity and then seeing it spiral out of control. While it may have been just about Mexican illegals coming to Arizona to work and find a better life for their families, it can't be much of a surprise that word got out that Arizona had a porous border and then the truly criminal activity (drugs, gangs, etc) started. Decades of doing nothing has resulted in the problem you see today. And the only way to get this problem under control is to take very swift, probably overly harsh action. What may have been controlled by less aggressive action a decade or two ago now has to be dealt with harshly in order to be effective. Since the drug dealers and "coyotes" don't wear badges or a special colored t-shirt, the only way to see if someone is here illegally is to check everyone.

those insulated jackasses like napolitano (whol should have been FIRED over the underwear bomber!) have NO concern for the average american.

it is the "out of staters", like the hypocritical "do as i say, not as i do" president of mexico, celebrities living in their guarded gated communities, or politicians insulted in the rich snobbery of washington who have NO concern for the average citizen because it doesn't affect them.....

i have to say that as a resident of florida i am more than a little concerned about rubio's newfound reluctance to want to see the laws enforced (reminds me of bush) and am thinking about NOT voting for him. i would vote for any independent candidate who stood up for border security and for the rights and protection of the UNITED STATES CITIZENS over foreign illegal immigrants, because it really is a clear cut choice-the rights of american citizens or the rights of illegal lawbreakers.

nothing could make it more obvious than the decision to BOYCOTT AN AMERICAN STATE AND AMERICAN BUSINESSES.

this is clearly a war on americans.

if they’re really going to boycott Arizona, how about Mexico withholding its illegal workers and drug smugglers from Arizona!

That’s a boycott we could all support!
