Lets take a look at US immigration law.

Naturalization Act of 1790: Stipulated that "any alien, being a free white person, may be admitted to become a citizen of the United States"

1882 The Chinese Exclusion Act: Prohibited certain laborers from immigrating to the United States.

1885 and 1887: Alien Contract Labor laws which prohibited certain laborers from immigrating to the United States.

1892: On January 2, a new Federal US immigration station opened on Ellis Island in New York Harbor. Ellis Island officially closed down in 1954. Naturalization Act of 1790 still applies to only White people becoming Citizens and to the exclusion of non-Whites.

1903: This Act restated the 1891 provisions concerning land borders and called for rules covering entry as well as inspection of aliens crossing the Mexican border.

1907 The US immigration Act of 1907: Reorganized the states bordering Mexico (Arizona, New Mexico and a large part of Texas) into Mexican Border District to stem the flow of immigrants into the United States.

1917 - 1924: A series of laws were enacted to further limit the number of new immigrants. These laws established the quota system and imposed passport requirements. They expanded the categories of excludable aliens and banned all Asians except Japanese.

Indian Citizenship Act of 1924

1940 The Alien Registration Act: Required all aliens (non-U.S. citizens) within the United States to register with the Government and receive an Alien Registration Receipt Card (the predecessor of the "Green Card").

1968 Act: Eliminated US immigration discrimination based on race, place of birth, sex and residence. It also officially abolished restrictions on Oriental US immigration.

1986 Act: Focused on curtailing illegal US immigration. It legalized hundred of thousands of illegal immigrants. The 1986 Immigration Act is commonly know as the 1986 Immigration Amnesty. It also introduced the employer sanctions program which fines employers for hiring illegal workers. It also passed tough laws to prevent bogus marriage fraud. Hey look, they finally let some Latin Americans into America to become citizens.

Creation of the USCIS 2003: As of March 1, 2003, the US immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) becomes part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

You see prior to 1900's and Ellis Island, [which officially ended in 1954] as long as you were a free Anglo alien you were accepted by the Government who happen to be ALL ANGLO.

This practice continued until the civil rights movement of 1968.

Now we both know why theirs more Anglo Americans in the USA than any other group of people.

No special treatment regarding American Immigration laws, right?

e to elaborate?
What is your point, Rico? Just accept the fact it is over for illegal aliens in the USA and they need to leave (preferably on their own volition).

As for the rest of your diatribe: it is of no importance except from a historical perspective. Besides: it is high time to reasses our immigration laws to FAVOR those folks who may be an asset to the USA. Hint: millions of illiterate peasants from Latin America (or anyplace else) do not count.

Then you can kindly report my comment to the moderators as you're the one baiting into the race/ethnicity card.

I'm posting factual data about issues that occurred during the era of Ellis Island.

You're the one who ranted and raved that their more Anglo-Americans in America and I showed you exactly why that's the case.

It's factual data, I didn't make it up.

As for Illegal immigrants, yea their days are numbered. Neither you nor I know that answer.

Maybe they'll all disappear when Congress decides to provide them all with paths to citizenship, who knows. I don't see the Feds ready and willing to round up 12+ million illegal immigrants now or in the mere future.

Our government really MUST soon retract the law that makes any child born in the U.S. a citizen. That would end the era of the "anchor baby" for the Latinos. Why should the child be a citizen when his/her parents are illegal. Stupid beyond words...

Well, the ball against illegal immigration is officially rolling now. With other States starting to jump on the band wagon the Feds will have to do something similar or risk possible civil war.

The fact is you have no idea what people of that era would have done. It's impossible and this is a wild speculation.

Fact, some of the biggest users of our social service network are Americans that became Americans via the loophole called the 14th amendment.

Fact, if the criminal Mother hadn't managed to sneak across our border dodging the Border Patrol and ICE the child wouldn't have been American, he/she would mostly like have been A Mexican by default as they are the biggest abusers of the 14th amendment loophole. Next in line would be Americans that should have been Guatemalans.

We all know that the majority of European Immigrants of the Ellis Island era and prior came to America with nothing more then the shirts on their backs.

Had their been a system of social services, welfare, and emergency room services available to them it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that those people would have never taken advantage of such services.

Surrender your silly claim that European Immigrants were/are somehow more noble than todays immigrants. Both came/come to America for what it has to offer.

Regarding the 14th amendment, it's been in the same format since the introduction of the reconstruction amendments of the civil war and that would be July 9, 1868.

You're trying to claim that all of a sudden a loop hole has surfaced?

LMFAO

Has it ever occurred to you that anyone born on U.S. soil becomes a U.S. Citizen?

You don't get to pick and choose who the heck becomes a U.S. citizens, it's clearly defined in the 14th amendment and a few supreme court rulings have indirectly implied as well.

Prior to the era of Ellis Island, there were plenty of non-citizens bearing children on U.S. soil and I don't hear you ranting and raving about those people.

As for claiming that criminal mothers are crossing the border to bear a child on U.S. soil, well we know that illegals are breaking a law, good way to state the obvious.

That law is a misdemeanor that carries a several hundred dollar fine, the legal equivalent of jaw walking or public littering.

So why are you frothing at the mouth about it?

You justify the illegality of this act by the fact that the law interprets it as illegal, yet you seem to ignore the fact that the penalty is also extremely mild and that the "law" you rely on to pontificate also regards this crime as insignificant.

Insignificant enough for the fine to be less than a speeding ticket in some places, so miniscule that people have to be caught doing it several times for it to be prosecuted beyond a littering ticket.

Crossing an open border into the USA without authorization and dumping a child on U.S. soil so that the mother can anchor herself to the USA is not equivalent to blowing up building, lets not forget that.

How about simply defending the border. Why are you going to change our Constitution when all our Nation has to do is man the border?

You should get off your NEO-CON mentality.

I've also read that the early settlers had dignity and pride and refused hand outs.

We sure don't see that with the current Aliens now do we? They come with open mouths and hands by the millions.

Where did you get blowing up buildings? Deflection? The topic is illegal immigration. There are other forums for that and the drug war too.

And you wonder why Homeland Security has built 100's of detention centers all over the USA, they anticipate American Dissidents.
