Yes. Most of them are here because their countries suck and would probably come here the legal way if they could. Let them pay taxes if they're going to be here.

Doesn't matter why they are here it is still against the law. If they can't come here legally then there is good reason for it. They aren't going to be here much longer and taxes aren't the big issue here, the law is.

I remember when the Kennedy-McCain immigration bill was introduced several years ago.
There was a great outpouring of opposition from everywhere it America, and it was defeated. But it almost snuck through. This time there is much more awareness on the part of citizens than back then. There is no way it will ever pass now.

Illegal immigrants anger me because they create a negative picture of Hispanics in the United States. As a Hispanic, I find them outright offensive.

HOWEVER, some illegals have children who are American citizens. I don't believe their children should suffer a life of probable poverty and lack of opportunity because of the crimes of their parents. I think illegal immigrant parents should be allowed to stay and work in the United States UNTIL their children become adults then they should have to leave.

The other exception I can think of is if an illegal immigrant genuinely has a change of heart and wants to become law abiding. In this case they should have to pay a penalty of some sort for their crime, then get at the BACK OF THE LINE. I'm NOT talking about a slap-on-the-wrist-fine. I'm talking about something like military service for a number of years. They should have to PROVE their commitment to becoming a proper citizen with their sweat and blood. In other words, I believe in a pathway to citizenship but ONLY ONE THAT IS HARDER THAN THE CONVENTIONAL PATHWAY. HARDER is the key word. Any alternative to legal conventional immigration must not be attractive so it is not abused. Why have an alternative? There are some, not many, people that honestly do decide to change their lives for the better and could contribute to society. If an illegal decides he's willing to possibly die for the United States then I think he should be allowed to eventually become a citizen.

Otherwise illegals should have to leave, immediately.

I hope I've made my position clear. To sum it all up: I believe in compassion for the citizen children of illegals and the possibility for some lawbreakers to reform. But otherwise I want the illegal immigrants out.

Many people on both sides of the debate hate what I have to say but oh well, lol.

This Mexican-American agrees with you on some things, but my strongest disagreement with you is that they should be granted certain privileges b/c they have birthed children on american soil. this is wrong and encourages even more bad behavior from pregnant immigrant mothers who know that all they have to do is give birth to a child to receive citizenship. How is this fair to the illegals who come here only to work, not to claim benefits and services from the generous american taxpayers. would you rather have these children of illegals competing with our american kids for jobs and slots in our american universities? Americans First.

Illegal Immigrants are being used as pawns to further the aims of La Raza and Reconquistanist.
These Socialist / Marxist organizations don’t even have the welfare of their own people in mind.

Shouldn’t the conversation center on WORK VISAS? That was the conversation just a few short years ago.
Now because some bastards see that they may have a chance at citizenship versus a hassle to obtain work visa, why not?
So much easier to cross the border multiple times with just a valid passport.
Work and steal American jobs here and spend your free time and vacations in Me-Heeko!

We used to play a game when we were children like hide and seek, where the seeker if he caught sight of you had to chase and tag you before you got to “free goal” where you were safe from being tagged.
That’s what “Anchor Baby” is all about. These children are no more American than John McCain is Panamanian. These children belong to their parent’s country of origin because that is the Country that they owe their ALLEGIANCE to.

Mexican mother = Mexican children. Just because you delivered your baby here does not entitle you to a winning ticket in the CITIZENSHIP LOTTERY!

Mexican Marchers BIG DEAL! Don’t let 250Million Americans ever get pissed off at you and start marching!
Unfettered Illegals crossing our border with impunity bring nothing but DISEASE, IGNORANCE, DRUGS and CRIME.
Working American Citizens will not take kindly to being saddled with what Illegal Aliens bring to America.
We don’t want this country LATIN-IZED! ?COMPRENDE?

Working here does not entitle you to citizenship.

GET OUT now Amigo!

I don't believe they should get a free pass. I know too many people who did it the legal way and spent years trying to do so, many times not even being able to go home for a visit in fear they might not get back here.

As for doing the jobs Americans don't want, most of that is bs. They are being used by employers because they will work for little or nothing. And yes they work hard. They aren't going to ask for the minimum wage because they can't. And dang those citizens for asking for it. Come on. Employers are getting away with murder here, using people and while I don't begrudge anyone a profit, there are so many citizens looking for work and are willing to work. Too bad most of the jobs available are going to illegals.

I mean what a slap in the face of those who did it the right way. I guess they were all stupid.

From most of my posts it may seem I am a liberal, but here is my perspective: let those who can demonstrate they have been here 10 years or whatever, paid taxes with TIN stay, no felonies and such; end if you are born here you are a citizen and make it so that only if your parents are citizens are you a citizen otherwise you have to go through the citizenship process. Put an armed national guard soldier every 1/4 mile on the border with orders to shoot to kill. Don't feel guilty about sending people back whose kids were born here, but are felons; they are responsible for their children's dilema, not us. I watched the march yesterday in Denver, I did not hear one chant in English.
