So very true. I can safely say that my maternal male ancestors (Union and Rebel) probably would have killed one another during the Civil War had they met in battle.

The tribes along the rivers in the East were quite different. They were no longer hunters and gatherers so much as settled agrarians by @ 1500 AD. The pottery they left behind demonstrates this fairly conclusively. People do not develop a ceramic tradition when they are nomadic.

According to the accounts of the explorers who first pressed inland with DeSoto, and later the diary of John Lawson who was sent to the New World to explore for herbs and other plants that may have pharmaceutical uses, the tribes encountered were peaceful and more curious about seeing white faces than angry that they were here. The women were anxious to sleep with the white men to learn more about them, and the explorers were fed, feted, and well met.

Do a bit more research before you say anything else.
I stand by what I stated. That bit about the Indian women wanting to sleep with a bunch of (probably) skanky White hillbillies (many of the US soldiers were indeed that 150 years ago) I find hard to believe. PS: I am White so I can use the slur.

Oh yeah, that too! Most of my family were Union but they were in a border state so had plenty of Rebs around too. And brother against brother was pretty common.

The time frame here is way back beyond 150 years ago.

150 years ago was the Civil War. Expansion had been going on since the early 1700s, and exploration since the late 1500s.
