Violence is not up on Arizona border

Quote:
FBI Uniform Crime Reports and statistics provided by police agencies, in fact, show that the crime rates in Nogales, Douglas, Yuma and other Arizona border towns have remained essentially flat for the past decade, even as drug-related violence has spiraled out of control on the other side of the international line. Statewide, rates of violent crime also are down.[LEFT]

Quote:
In 2000, there were 23 rapes, robberies and murders in Nogales, Ariz. Last year, despite nearly a decade of population growth, there were 19 such crimes. Aggravated assaults dropped by one-third. No one has been murdered in two years. [LEFT]

Leo Federico, 61, a retired teacher, said he has been amazed to hear members of Congress call for National Guard troops in the area.
"That's politics," he said, shrugging. "It's all about votes. . . . We have plenty of law enforcement."

Having concerns about illegal immigration and being unhappy with the situation is one thing. But stop allowing yourselves to be manipulated by politicians into giving up your rights and directing your anger/hatred at scape goats!

There is no hatred involved in the desire to see our immigration laws enforced. If we are angry it is at our government for not securing our borders and allowing this invasion to occur. They need to be enforced against the drug cartels, criminals, terrorists and those just wanting to jump our borders for economical gain. They are all detriments to the well being of our country.

You're scared, and can't think clearly on how to handle immigration reform, because you've been led to be too angry at the illegal immigrants themselves. You're not sober minded.

How far are you willing to go, how far are you willing to contradict the constitution, how many rights do you want to give up to get rid of the illegal immigrants you fear so much?

You just can't swallow the fact that the vast majority of Americans want borders secured and illegal aliens repatriated to the country of origin. The vast majority of people are not being manipulated to any sort of viewpoint, but you keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

Many people want the borders secured. But how much BS is being spread to make the issue more volatile? You guys are too eager to swallow the stuff propagandists give you about the 'invasion', and how much your life is in danger because of it.

No, common sense and logic would tell you that 12-20 million illegals in our country cannot be a good thing along with the continued invasion on a daily basis by the thousands. Common sense and logic would also tell you that they aren't all looking for work either. There are criminals and terrorist also getting through.

I believe most illegal aliens are not a threat to national security and the safety of Americans.

However, they are still here illegally. I want them out and I want them to get in line and come here legally.

This has nothing to do with race, ethnicity, or propaganda. I simply want them to wait in line like my ancestors and your ancestors did.

We have borders for a reason. You can't have a free for all and come and go whenever you like. If you want to allow Mexicans to come and go whenever they like, then you ask Mexicans in Mexico to petition to be admitted into the Union as States. Same goes for all other illegals wherever they are from.

You seem very scared. Are you here illegally? Are you scared to go back home to your own country?

Is your own country really so horrendous? Why the hysteria?

Do you know what happens when someone who is illegally here goes home? Most of them just pick up where they left off, they find a job, find their families and friends, life goes on. They readjust to life in their homeland. It's their homeland after all.

Don't try to tell me how I think and feel, ok? If CIR includes amnesty or anything else that allows them to remain in our country I oppose it. I already said that I am angry at our government for allowing this to happen but you are going to tell me I feel something else instead? What are you a mind reader? If so, you failed miserably.

There are no rights being violated by the enforcement of our immigration laws. That old propaganda being pushed by the pro-illegals is getting old.

I'd say it's quite the opposite. The media is constantly reporting how SB 1070 promotes racial profiling when it doesn't, how illegals are good for the economy, they're just here for a better life, it shows horrible living conditions in MX when that does NOT represent how the majority of Mexico is, that anyone against illegal immigration is racist/xenophobic/hateful and so on. Your being spoon-fed what the politicians bought out by greedy corporations want you to hear instead of the truth, the costs, and the consequences. YOU ARE BEING MANIPULATED.
