How do you tell who is an immigrant, and no under the new law you are charged with a criminal offense. Since you are not a citizen there will be no bail and most won't have the $2,500 for the fine. Next they will need a hearing and a lawyer.

Under the OLD LAW they would just be turned over to the Feds for Deportation.

Says you, and the dramatic liberal media. Who is going to be "suspected"? Anyone who can not produce a vaild ID, regardless of race. I carry my license everywhere. If you don't drive, get a state ID card. If you are here legally, you have nothing to fear but an inconvenience. If you are here illegally, I suggest you get the hell out of AZ cause I hear they actually enforce the law there.

I carry my license with me everywhere I go. It truly is not a hardship. Since I have been vetted by DMV (when I first applied I had to produce my birth certificate), I am good to go. I also have been finger-printed while working for banking firms as part of an SEC background check. My right to work has already been vetted by my employer as part of their background check (including the SS check). Again, not difficult at all.

I am a child of immigrants. Both of my parents seperately (they had not yet met) went through STRINGENT checks on health, finance, family sponsorship, recommendations. It was hard, but they wanted to come here. They were willing to do the work. To do it legally. This was back in 1948 and 1949.

While my Mom became a US citizen in the 1950's, my Dad never did so. I asked this 86 year old man where his green card was this past weekend. It was in a lockbox. I told him that going forward, I wanted him to carry it with him in his wallet along with his license. No problems. Doesn't really add stress or extra weight.

What I am (in a long-winded way!) saying is that carrying ID or being asked to present ID is not really this terrible hardship. We already all do it anyway as part of our normal like (license, work ID, etc.). You have NOTHING to worry about - as long as you are here legally. There really should not be this much discord on this subject. Do you think I cry RACIST to a cop who has pulled me over and requested my license? Nope. I was more than likely speeding again!

The actual law does not ask for your papers. They ask for a valid Arizona Drivers license.

No they do a lot of posing for the Camera. Actually the Sherrif of Pima County who denounced this new law, deported more people than Sherriff Joe who has three times the population

We can simply divert the free lunch program most children of Illegal Aliens use. They won't be needing those meals when their Parents are shipped out taking the kids with them.

Whether they identify you or not, it's you they have in custody--so why does it matter?
