You've heard how an AZ deputy was shot last week as he stopped a car that might have contained one or more illegal aliens. Turns out it was just a grazing wound, he'll be OK.

As soon as it happened, the Maricopa County Sheriff immediately sent every available officer out to find and arrest the shooters. And the Border Patrol did the same.

The Maricopa County Sheriff personnel found **17** suspected illegal immigrants in the area around the shooting.

And the Border Patrol found more than a HUNDRED more! All within a few miles of where the deputy had been shot.

This is in a relatively desolate area. No houses, no towns, nothing but cactus.

It is becoming more and more clear that Arizona's new Illegal Alien law is necessary.

This is why we need the federal government to intervene and close that border.

We have needed that for decades. It hasn't happened. Time for states to start defending themselves, since no one else will do it.

Fortunately, this is Constitutional, as long as states don't make any NEW laws that go farther than existing Federal laws do. States are forbidden to make their own immigration "policy" - that is a power assigned to the Federal government. But they are not forbidden to enforce the policy that the Federal government has made. And that's all this Arizona law does.

Can I ask where you got all this information? First of all, this didn't happen in Maricopa County. I happened in Pinal County. Secondly, they didn't send out the troops to hunt down the shooter. Not immediately anyway. They were told to find the deputy and not worry about the shooter for the moment. Thirdly, the 17 illegals they came across was an accidental find. They had no idea they were out there and there weren't more than 100 others found. There WERE 103 illegals found crossing the desert further south days before this happened. They were illegals from three different countries making their way TOWARD Pinal County from Pima County. You really need to make sure your information is correct before posting. I know mine is because I get it from the Border Patrol.

Yes, AZ does need this law but even more so they need the Feds to step up and do what we have have begging them to do for YEARS! And that is to CLOSE the border. The Border Patrol does an admirable job and they make busts, both illegals and drugs every single day, that don't make the news. That's really how they want it because why should they tip their hand? We only hear about the 'biggies' when someone gets hurt or they make a BIG bust of illegals/drugs. And those big ones have generally been under investigation for some time. A lot of their busts are "accidental" as in the 17 they caught when the deputy was shot. Unfortunately we don't have enough Border Patrol Agents to stand shoulder to shoulder all along the border.
