Well...were you actually surprised? The very fact that the word "illegal" explains their presence inside our borders should've been a clue. They don't belong here--on what basis would anyone expect them to have any respect for any facet of life in this country?

This is no big surprise. Living in AZ I've watched things escalate over the years. This article is from 2007 and nothing has changed for the better. The government is "working on it"...yeah right. Illegals are "illegal" the minute they step across that border and it's just downhill from there.

Each time these articles get more and more hilarious. Now illegals are causing 80% of all crime in L.A.? That is completely moronic. Get a grip folks.

Both sides in Arizona's immigration debate use crime argument - Los Angeles Times

By many measures, Arizona has become safer since illegal immigrants began pouring into the state in the 1990s.
Crime has dropped all across the country since then, but the decrease has been as fast or faster in Arizona. The rate of property crimes in the state, for example, has plummeted 43% since 1995, compared with 30% nationwide.
That's no surprise to those who study immigration — both sides, whether for or against increased immigration, agree that immigrants tend to commit fewer crimes than native-born Americans.

Default Arizona Crime Down

http://voices.kansascity.com/node/8867The (broken link) facts don't back up supporters of new Arizona's immigration law when they contend violent crime is rising because of illegal aliens. In fact, the Bureau of Justice contains a huge amount of data that show some interesting trends:Violent crime in Arizona has gone down the last four reported years, from 2005 to 2008. The total drop was 13 percent.

Another view. They enter illegally because they were criminals in their own country.

Getting a visa is a long, hard expensive process.

They need a health check and a clean criminal background check.

I thought those numbers in the article were from the FBI. Are you saying that the FBI under Bush was an anti-criminal group? I thought the term illegal referred to some kind of crime like walking across a national boundary line without permission. Every one of them is a criminal from the day they entered the US without permission. Why would they worry about committing any other crimes.

That's true, although I wouldn't put it past the corrupt Mexican government to coverup criminal background checks to help criminals get viasa anyway just to get them out of the country
