Celebrate diversity all you wish...I'm only reminding you that while YOU celebrate your group, and remind all of us how 'different' and special YOU are, and how YOU'RE not like 'us'....at the same time, I'm going to be celebrating MY group.....and the guy down the street is going to celebrate HIS group.(which, of course, is better than either your group OR mine). Project that scenario out until you have 35, 50, or 100 groups, each of which is 'special', and each of which is 'unique', and each of which is 'the best'....and you may have a WONDERFUL time at a street fair...but a LOUSY time in trying to get along during the rest of the year.

Apartheid? Who wants apartheid? Why can't we all just be American citizens, and celebrate those things we hold in common? Why the need for bumper stickers, slogans, and silly T-shirts? Aren't we supposed to be adults here? Can't we find ways to get along without all this "my group's better than your group" stuff? I hope so..

what does multicultralrism have to do with anything? You cant accept other cultures? what does accepting a diffrent culture have to do with you, or me-living our lives everyday?

I dont know your cultrual background, doesnt mean I have learn it to be part of you National makeup...same as you dont have to know or understand my curtural background to live your life in peace.

If some aspect of MY cutural background bothers you, that your concern...not mine.

man, the illegals should have picked a more attractive, well spoken person to help them out. that girl was very stupid and looked likea donkey's butt
Seriously, I think you're on to something here. I'm surrounded by Mexican-Americans at all times, and it's my personal impression that these types who feel SUCH a strong bond with illegals, are mostly, themselves, either recent immigrants or first-generation Americans. Those folks, who've arrived in...(say)..the past 40 years or so, (into our multicultural 'paradise') may indeed 'feel like Mexicans'. Long-established Mexican-Americans (many of whose ancestors were here even BEFORE the US arrived) tend to feel 'American', and have no particular emotional bond (other than a few cultural similarities) with newly-arriving illegals. In fact, Mexican-Americans, AS A GROUP, have proven most 'patriotic', and have traditionally had a higher-than average rate of military service. Their 'bond' with illegals involves a few points of culture...NOT any sense of 'loyalty'. Many are quite outspokenly anti-illegal.

That, at least, is my impression.

Depends on what your culture tells you to do.

If your culture tells you how to cook a goat...or how to sing a song, or plant a flower, or paint a picture...I'm OK with that; I might even join you. You might teach me something.

If your culture tells you to slap your wife around (or to kill her, if she 'shames' you)....or if it tells you to kill those of the 'wrong' religion..if it tells you that the 'cops' are your enemy, or that it's your right, as a father, to marry off your 13-year old daughters to 40 year old males...or to enter the US illegally in the millions, (and that this is 'OK'), then you and I are going to have problems..and I'm going to find some of your cultural attributes objectionable, because they clash with mine.

Minority rule in America was... when, exactly?

Excellent point Macmeal....

It is always nice to have a level head stop by and remind me of the danger posed by painting with a broad brush....Keeps me honest and focused on the problem.

Thanks,

Not to take away from the video, but look at this lady she's obviously an idiot and doesn't even have teeth. A lot of the legal immigrants (including my family) are against a more relaxed policy on immigration. You could find the uneducated of any race.. although the video was very amusing and had me laughing through the whole thing. The interviewer was really funny

As a 2nd generation mexican american, I have to agree with you. A lot of the mexican americans at least in SoCal are loyal to their people before they are loyal to the US and its laws. This makes me disgusted. Personally, I consider myself an american first and a mexican second. I am for the AZ bill and hope they pass a similar bill here in CA, even though CA will probably be the last state to pass such a bill.

The lady in the video is a disgrace to all "true" mexican americans. I could tell by just the title "Palmdale" what type of people would be in this video. For anyone unfamiliar with Palmdale,CA, it is a city in the middle of the desert filled with illegal immigrants, gang members, meth addicts, welfare recipients etc.

I actually got into a physical altercation with another mexican dude in discussing illegal immigration one time. He called me a "sellout", a "traitor" and even a "coconut" LOL. I told him to go back to Mexico and he got in my face and swung at me first. I dodged his punch and in self defense punched the guy right in the face knocking him out. These are the type of people I am up against.

Sounds like Palmdale has improved since I was there...you didn't mention the Nazis. Has Stormfront left town?

Seriously, though, thanks for presenting 'the 'other side', as I've tried to. While Mexican-Americans might naturally object to anti-Hispanic racism, and not want to be associated with those who preach it, that does NOT mean they're all ready to take up the 'cause' of illegals. Mexican-Americans, just like everyone else, are much too diverse a group to be categorized like that.

Thanks for pointing this out.
