NEW YORK | Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is ignoring calls to move next year's All-Star game from Phoenix because of Arizona's new immigration law.
Asked about such demands at a news conference Thursday following an owners meeting, he responded with a defense of baseball's minority hiring record.
"Apparently all the people around and in minority communities think we're doing OK. That's the issue, and that's the answer," he said. "I told the clubs today: 'Be proud of what we've done.' They are. We should. And that's our answer. We control our own fate, and we've done very well."
It's good to finally see some event that won't join the boycotting bandwagon. Let the illegal people moan and cry about the All-Star game coming to Arizona. With them being illegal, they don't have the right to decide where America's best known past time sport will occur.
Because of his decision, we can probably see more of those who talked boycott, buckling under. thank God!!!!

Truth? I suspect that most of this boycott talk will wind up being little more than farts in the wind.
Even if the 'big dogs' AKA yapping Chihuahuas do carry out their boycotts of Arizona: quite a few 'little people' may decide to visit (or spend money) here in retaliation------which may likely more than compensate.
Let's not underestimate the fact that 70% of Arizonians favor this new law and almost that high nationally favor the new law. Otherwise the All Star game might have had a different outcome, what with Selig not noted for having any balls. And because of this 70% support the leftist marxist boycott will soon fizzle out just like many of the leftist trolls who came out in droves have already left this forum.
Bud's a bright guy. He's probably betting on the law being thrown out.
