Years ago the city of Los Angeles tried to pass a law making landlords ask for citizenship, this law was denied due to groups like La RAza again raising the race issue stating that it was/is a form of discrimination.
Not true,when I managed an Apt. Complex in LA the French Woman that owned it told me that if you do not have a LEGAL right to be in the US you didn't have a LEGAL and LEGITIMATE source of income to qualify to rent,and I used that as a basis to deny plenty of Illegals an apartment.
Not Racist whatsoever as I had many tenants from Mexico,Central America and elsewhere that were legal. A simple Credit/background check would clear that up.
What was interesting is how the owner would keep a straight face when certain Hispanics would talk badly in front of her in Spanish not realizing this older Blond woman spoke fluent French,Italian,Spanish and English an lived and taught in Barcelona Spain for several years.
