Rassmusen/others: Most Americans want enforcement only - NO hiring of illegals and to secure the border=we want illegals to go back home. These laws exist already on the books, and Americans understand the SHAMnesty now.

IF GOVERNMENT WANTED TO BUILD A FENCE THEY WOULD HAVE LONG AGO!

Government amnesty supporters are trying to con the public by using bait and switch tactics to pass their amnesty bill.

Fence bill was signed by Pres. and money was to be appropriated for 850+ miles of double wide fence, and for border patrol agents. Then money suddenly scarce so we got 13 miles of an easily climbed single wide fence...Senate amnesty supporters said to themselves, "The public will surely want our upcoming amnesty bill passed to get their fence completed, won't they!"

So as an attractant to the public here comes that fence again in amnesty bill. Senate claims they will borrow 4.4 billion emergency funds to build 300+ miles of fence and illegals fees will pay it back. Lindsay Grahamn said "The moment the President's signing pen hits the paper these funds will be available." Another Senator said that "the public will not like the Senate doing nothing, and then they will see that they do need us." Who is the Senate supposed to be working for?

Bait and switch.

I'm so sick of hearing "we can't deport 12 million illegal aliens"!! Of course we can! All it would take is the will on the part of the gov't to do so.

I do not think we can deport 12 million people because of the liberal media. Every time there would be a large number of people who were deported, the media would make a big thing about it. The best approach is making it so hard to find work unless you are legal that they would just go back to their old country.

In France they are in the process of offering incentives for people to go back to their old countries. Enforcement through attrition.

This amnesty bill should go down,if not in the Senate, then definitely in the House.

Two thirds of the triumvirate of Bush, McCain and Kennedy should be finished politically, FINALLY, after this sham.
Hopefully the S.C. electorate will give Lindsay Grahamn his walking papers when he comes up for reelection.

Guess it doesn't matter what the polls say, or the American majority thinks. They are going to try and push it through again. Time to really heat up the phone, fax, and email!

It should be both to be most effective: Deportation and employers not allowed to hire them.

DOES ANYONE KNOW if gov. does enforce current laws by not allowing employers to hire illegals, then will illegals would be ABLE to get back to Mexico with the 'new passport laws'...?

The media are mostly run by big corporations and whatever happens they go with the flow, if government is in control of things media would be no real problem.

Default Unbelievable

Bush was talking at a breakfast for Mexicans this morning and he told them to call their congressmen to tell them to vote to pass the amnesty bill.

These people are here illegally, not us citizens and Bush wants them to effect the outcome of a bill in the US Senate.

This is insane. To think a sitting president along with some democrat senators is lobbying foreign invaders to, in numbers, tell US Senators how to vote.
