If this does happen (which i'm sure it won't) Californians will unite with rage form the Brownouts this will cause and channel there anger at Arizona. This is borderline stupid and will lead to tensions. Can you imagine if someone dies because of this , an accident caused by darken intersection or Train derailment? Doesn't Arizona also sell power to Mexico?

This threat is as asinine as the boycott. Sounds like pure hot air.

More power to Arizona. If the City Council wasn't full evil politicians, LA wouldn't be having this problem. California should throw out the baby boom politicians. They're destroying the state.

What don't you people understand about California being an owner of the power plants? California is part owner.

Doubt California will boycott itself.

It bears repeating:

"The head of the Department of Water and Power said Wednesday that the Arizona boycott would not affect the city’s utilities because the agency is a part owner of both Arizona power plants that supply electricity to Los Angeles.
DWP General Manager Austin Beutner said the city owns assets in both the Navajo coal-fired plant and the Palo Verde nuclear plant that supply Los Angeles with about 20% to 25% of its power.
“As such, nothing in the city’s resolution is inconsistent with our continuing to receive power from those LADWP-owned assets,” Beutner said at a news conference Wednesday".

Things work differently when larger amounts of money are involved, of course, but in the normal corporate culture a 25% ownership means 25% of the voting stock. Politics and side deals ignored for a moment, If AZ owns 75% of the vote and gets peeved at the city of LA, then they could cut off the power regardless of what the 25% stake holder wants.\

Likewise, Federal law requires a minimum amount of water to be allocated to CA from the Colorado River, but it does not mandate delivery of the water. CA must purchase the water and pay for the delivery from the AZ pumps and pipelines. Should AZ decide to not sell the delivery, CA must arrange other methods of delivery of it's legal allocation. Anyone up for a bucket brigade?

Can you image a company refusing service to it's own part-owners? The whole notion is nothing more than a completely fabricated attempt to win political points. California is in no way at the mercy of Arizona regarding water & power. This just makes Arizona look all the more desperate. Cool heads need to prevail w/ the understanding that Arizona has no leverage against California.

A mass sea of angry Californians march along Highway 10 towards the Arizona border for the ultimate showdown. Arizonans prepare at the border for the ultimate Joe Arpaio led assault.

No, the Californians would rage at the LA mayor. AZ can't cut off power. AZ offered to renegotiate the contracts to let LA out of them. In other words, if LA wants to boycott AZ, then put their money where there mouths are and boycott purchasing any electricity. LA won't do it.
