It's partly a Texas lake - but much of it is in Mexico. One of the incidents was admittedly Americans on the Mexican side of the river.

zapata, tx - Google Maps

Five people in two boats who were approached by four tattooed men April 30 claiming to be “federales” near the church at Old Guerrero, a once-submerged town on the Mexican side of the lake. The men boarded their boats, demanded cash and asked “where are the drugs?” They then took $200 from the Americans and followed the boats until they re-entered U.S. waters.

Oh good grief -- so now we even have illegal alien pirates on our lakes? Can somebody explain to me what protections we receive from the federal government in return for paying taxes?

According to the article there have been 3 incidents this month - at least 2 of them were in Mexican waters and one "reportedly" on the US side.

At least three such incidents have been reported since April 30. One of the incidents reportedly occurred on the U.S. side of the lake.

Zapata County Sheriff’s Office are strongly urging boaters on Falcon Lake to stay on the United States side of the lake and not venture into Mexican waters.
Two of the three incidents involved United States citizens who had gone into the Mexican side of the lake, passing the International Waters markers. Most of the incidents occurred in the Old Guerrero area,
·On April 30, five people in two different boats were fishing on Falcon Lake and went to the Old Guerrero area [Mexcian side], where they were taking photos of the old church. While they were there, a boat with four heavily tattooed men approached the two boats quickly.
·On May 6, three fishermen were about a quarter of a mile from Marker 14 on the north side of Salado Island on top of the ruins.
·On May 16, law enforcement officers were told that some boaters were approached by a boat with five armed men on it. Investigators have not been able to locate the boaters to determine whether any cash was taken. This incident occurred on the United States side of the lake near Marker 7.

We receive protections from any type of federal aid in securing our borders, we also receive protection from stopping illegal invaders on American soil. We also receive protection FROM any type of support in saving our sovereignty and culture....So, we can honestly say this administration is doing with our money everything it can in support of ruining this country.

amen, haven't secured the borders, haven't stopped illegal immigration, we have been invaded, and where's the money. Taxes hell. The major issues are not being addressed by this joke of an administration.

ZAPATA - Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez, Jr. tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS armed pirates shot at a McAllen couple on Falcon Lake this afternoon. The husband and wife were jetskiing near Old Guerrero.

On their way back to shore, pirates in a boat pulled up next to them and started shooting at them. The husband was hit, possibly in the head. The woman tried to save him and ended up being at shot as well. She had to turn around and leave her husband in the water. She fears he's dead.

Mexico's getting more dangerous. I've cut way back on trips into Juarez -and then only in daylight & a direct route to take care of business- no dawdling, dining, or unnecessary shopping.

An American tourist was shot in the back of the head in Mexican waters on Thursday after being ambushed by armed boaters...

Earlier this year, several fishermen were robbed at gunpoint on the lake's Mexican side. In those holdups, authorities say the gunmen traveled in the low-slung, underpowered commercial Mexican fishing boats that are familiar in the area. They asked for money, drugs and guns, and took what cash was available, but no one was hurt.

..."I would think that, right now, the prudent boater would want to stay on the Texas side," Cox said Thursday

Well - like you pointed out in post #2, it's the fault of Americans when they go into Mexican territory. Everything is pretty one-way when it comes to Mexico - when they come here, they expect to be given the finest health care, free education and whatever they want.

The US government won't do a thing about this which is why it's going to get much worse.
