It sure doesn't make a whole lot of sense today....especially when you consider the way it gets abused today. At the time it was written , I'm sure it wasn't that much of a big deal to just allow it and then if the parents didn't want to stay in the U.S., they'd leave and the child would end up being a citizen of what ever country the parents were citizens of....it more or less made it an option the parents could consider if they wanted to use it. They could have never imaged how (with all the entitlements we have now) it would end getting abused like it has the last few decades.
Pregnant women from all over the world are coming here..did you know that ? It's not just Mexicans.
I thought you were a strong supporter of the constitution. So now you want to pick and choose which parts are good and which are bad in your opinion?
The Constitution is the basis for our laws - Including immigration. NEVER in history would it have been imagined that a group would be allowed to break our laws in such mass numbers...It is actually anarchy.
It is simply logical to undo the damage that they have done to the SOVEREIGNTY of our country.
The original law was to protect the rights of the occassional situation in which an innocent person would have had no knowledge that their parents may have been here illegally - It was not intended for mass immigration.
Look at it in its real perspective...It's now being abused by absolutely lawless people, and a bunch of self-hating white liberals.

If you look at what the people that wrote the amendment granting birthright citizenship you will see it was not meant to include kids of illegals.
It was meant for people that were born here and their parents had some type of allegience to this country. Parents that are here legally but for whatever reason are not citizens at the time the kid was born.
We should have never let lawyers and judges interpret the Constitution. That's the biggest mistake we ever made.
At least he was born in the US, unlike Panamanian John McCain
Or...that other guy....'O' something.......
