If things happened the way he says, that sucks, but just what kind of "change to immigration" should happen because of this? That's what I never understand. They talk about immigration reform, but what kind of reform would prevent things like this from happening? To me, it sounds like some cocky officials just didn't want to listen to him or they were prejudice. What does that have to do with immigration reform?

No -- but it would be wise to question all suspicious Puerto Rican papers since it's a well-known fact that many illegals purchase them fraudulently.

I really doubt you're going to find all that many Puerto Ricans who think they act and speak and look exactly like Mexicans.

Again, if someone speaks Mexican Spanish, cannot speak a word of English, knows nothing at all about Puerto Rico or the USA -- then just maybe that person is a Mexican or possibly an anchor baby of a Mexican woman that made it to Puerto Rico just in time to give birth.

A whole lot of documents can be bought on the streets of Juarez and a whole lot of documents have been bought.

Just like Central Americans buy fraudulent Mexican birth certificates -- and the Mexican army is sometimes wise to that fact.

I don't have pity for those who are here, and commit crimes, and then have their background investigated. I don't know the laws too well on immigration, but recently there was an issue, a Hatian boy was here for 8 years, not yet a citizen, and commited several crimes. He was deported. Every one said it was worng, because his family all lived here now, and he could not even speak the language in Haiti. But, if you are here, at least follow the rules.

If he wasn't detained in connection with a crime I'd have pity for him.

I might have pity for some - but pity isn't a good government policy. I still think it's better policy to enforce laws and those laws exist for good reason.

It would be great if the USA had abundant empty land, and we had infinite resources to provide not just for Americans but everyone in the world. We could take in the over 2 billion impoverished people and give them all a nice middle class lifestyle here - no matter how many children they chose to have. It would be great - but that's not reality.

There is no more industrial revolution to justify bringing in millions of indigent workers, there's no more housing bubble. There's not even a whole lot of Indian land to turn over to immigrants like was done in the past. The Indians don't want to lose what's left of their lands.

Massive and unlimited immigration now means our large cities must double, triple, quadruple in size and our farmland and wilderness areas would have to be plowed under to accomodate the housing projects needed.

We simply can't have a policy made on pity - pity for all but the American taxpayer anyhow. Over 2 billion poor throughout the world is just too much. Having everyone come here for their "better life" isn't the only solution.

What are you on about? LOL. The guy was an American citizen.

If he was illegal then there'd be nothing to pity. He would've been breaking the law and should've been deported.
