Anyone in government in California would be too scared of backlash..
To push through tougher laws or enforce the laws regarding immigration.
Didnt prop 187 and Pete Wilson lead to democrat control?
There are so many pro-amnesty mayors, and ethnic front groups/lobbies.
I dont see any chance for tougher laws or enforcement of current law.

This is all true as I live in Calif. Howevever, as the illegals exit Arizona and many come here and as this state continues down the road to bankruptcy I don't see how they will be able to avoid immigration law enforcement anymore.
We have two candidates running for Governor and they are both claiming no amnesty, secure our border with NG if necessary and no taxpayer benefits for illegals. As I said in another topic though, I wonder when they say no amnesty if that includes no CIR. Time will tell.
I believe in the near future, California will be mostly Mexican citizens and employers of illegals and they will be demanding Washington DC give them a big bailout for their economy. They'll fly the Mexican flag but they won't turn to Mexico DF for their money and handouts, it will be to the US government.
As the illegals pour into California, many will not find jobs - California's over 12% unemployment isn't budging, and when the California politicians push through a big tax increase, many Americans will leave, retirees who will take their state pensions with them. Some Americans like the inner city blacks will be unable to leave but will be pushed out of state government programs to make way for the newcomers with greater poverty and needs.

[i] was born and raised in Ca and I think it is a lost cause when it comes to lots of things. That is sad as it has or could have so much to offer.
California has been crushed on one side by anti-business, high tax Marxist politicians and by illegal immigration on the other. In the middle have been mostly working and middle class citizens, although the wealthy have felt the squeeze as well. Not likely that trend will reverse in the near future. For all practical purposes Los Angeles is Mexico Citys largest suburb. While large parts of Northern California have been somewhat insulated from what is going on, they are still in California. I have said this sarcastically in several posts in earlier threads, but once again, unless things reverse sharply in the near future, California will become "The Peoples Socialist Republic of Mexifornia".
If California actually wakes up and stop feeding the illegals the silver spoon, I highly doubt California could ever recover from this disaster. It runs very deep. If California turn away the illegals in the first place, perhaps the hispanic gangs wouldn't be large today.
Let me answer your question, OP: Montana here I come (or Idaho, or some other state that doesn't allow immigrants)!
