So the law is having its desired effect, which is kind of unusual for a piece of legislation.

I seriously doubt they're going anywhere but CA or back to Mexico. Immigrants tend to go where there are large numbers of others like them.

That alone makes it memorable.

i dont think anystate was ready for illegal immigration, ever. the states that refuse to enforce the laws of the land will feel the effects of enforcement. feeding bears does not make them your friends, it lets them know where food can be found.

'Suriano's husband has been in New Mexico for two weeks, looking for an apartment and a job. She is packing up
their Phoenix apartment. "He tells me over in New Mexico, it is like here when we first came: There is no fear
and they treat you like human beings."'

They are leaving here (AZ) in droves. They are moving to NM, CA, CO, TX and Mexico, etc.. I don't blame them. Hopefuly our new law will wake up the nation. I have no idea who will trim my palm trees anymore, but I did see white guys working on my neighbors roof this week. That would never have happened a month or two ago.

So they think it is inhumane to enforce even existing immigration laws?

New Mexico, Texas and the other neighboring states are going to pay the price for AZ's crackdown, and that is not good for the rest of us, in any way, shape or form.

Illegals come here with an apparently enormous sense of entitlement, as if we in the US owe them something because their own third-world country is only too happy to have their poorest go to the US, and send money home--or that Mexico gets rid of the poorest/most uneducated among them.

So, they come to this country illegally to have offspring which then become their very own anchor babies. So they think that entitles them to remain in the US/get benefits because their kids were born here. That's the main reason illegal pregnant women come here to have their babies.

The woman in the original article states that her kids are innocent--yep, that's true. SHE and her illegal alien husband are the ones that helped create the mess--and we have to educate them, provide welfare, services, etc. The list goes on.

There needs to be a concerted effort to do away with the abuse of the Fourteenth Amenment, a heavy crackdown/severe penalties on those who hire illegals, refusal to rent to illegals, etc.

But nobody wants to really tackle the problem--most of all the spineless politicians who are up for reelection.

So--we're going to pay the price for Arizona's backbone because our respective states have none.

They came to the US to have better lives.
Just like OUR relatives did in the past.
I do not remember OUR relatives, asking the Native Americans for permission to settle here?
My guess is, if the illegals were all Swedes or German's.
You wouldn't have heard a peep out of Arizona.........................................

Yeah, ask the Indians how well that worked out.

Every other nation in the world has some kind of immigration laws and borders. It's insane that the USA is the only one that does not. It's a total free-for-all, and in spite of unemployment over 10% in some regions, some want to encourage unlimited numbers of people.

Cheap labor is what it's all about. The elite want the cheapest possible labor and in unlimited quantities.
