Immigration
Securing America’s porous borders and controlling illegal immigration are two of the most important issues for the future of our country. That is why I recently introduced the ENFORCE Act of 2007 (S.1269) to increase criminal penalties for first-time illegal entry, increase the number of agents available to police the border and establish criminal penalties for forging federal documents.
The ENFORCE Act is a real solution to ending illegal immigration by strengthening our borders through the formation of the National Border Neighborhood Watch (NBNW) Program (modeled after the National Neighborhood Watch Program) allowing retired federal law enforcement officers (currently forced to retire at 57) to come back and volunteer with the U.S. Border Patrol.
I am also working to end the practice of granting citizenship privileges to children—often referred to as “Anchor Babies”—who are born in the US to illegal aliens. Additionally, I am working to end the practice of allowing aliens to collect Social Security benefits once they gain legal status for the time they worked illegally in the U.S. Finally, I am fighting proposals to grant amnesty to illegal aliens.
