N.B.: The following is from a website named after "Aztlan," the mythical
Mexican Aztec empire -- it never existed -- which Mexicans are seeking to
re-establish [sic] in the present-day United States via massive illegal
immigration and sky-high birth rates.
If questioned, virtually all of today's supporters of the massive illegal
alien invasion and colonization of the USA would vehemently say that the
19th century secessionist movement of white American Southerners' was a
crime and that the North's fight against the secessionst Confederacy was
completely justified. Yet not only do they not oppose THIS (see below)
modern-day secessionist movement, they actively support it.
Moreover, only a few decades ago those who championed "states' rights"
and the rights of U.S. localities were scorned as "right-wing extremists"
who sought to usurp the powers of the federal government. Yet today we see
the same sort of people supporting THIS (see below) crusade to enable
localities to ignore federal authority.
Keep in mind, while reading the following, that it's not a report about a
small enclave of perhaps a few hundred eccentrics essentially putting the
federal government on notice that it's rebelling, if not actually seceeding
from the rest of the country; rather, it's the nation's second most
populous city, one truly swamped by illegal aliens who snuck into the
country in the first place and who now actually comprise the majority of
its population:

LOS ANGELES, 12 June 2007--At its regular meeting, the Los Angeles City
Council told the Department of Homeland Security in no uncertain terms
that the autonomy of the LAPD was a paramount concern to the council in a
10 to 1 vote in support of a resolution opposing "any [federal] legislative
provision or amendment which would prohibit or pre-empt local 'separation'
ordinances and similar local regulations such as the LAPD’s Special Order
40." The resolution is a rebuke from the U.S.'s largest immigrant city to
various Congressional proposals mandating that local law enforcement report
to federal immigration enforcement ..."
