Let’s not convolute overall net migration from a country like Mexico with the population of undocumented immigrants within the U.S. which is from many countries other than Mexico.
True but the overwhelmingly majority of "illegal aliens" are from Mexico and other Latino countries. 80% of them are.

Oh so the drop in illegal population isn't Mexicans? Guess it must be overstays going home.

The drop in illegal population is majority Mexicans, yet overall Mexico has a net negative migration. How is this do you ask? Because while more illegals are either going home or getting documented than the number of illegals entering the US, this number is exceeded by Mexicans legally emigrating to the US, Canada, Europe and other parts of the world.

There just aren't enough illegal aliens going home, Mexican or not than there are those from south of our border continuing to jump our border every month. I have been hearing that they have been leaving for years now and yet there are still 10.7 million still here. That's a very small drop from the estimated 11 million here that's been quoted. How does one get legalized after entering our border illegally? That process begins in their homelands not on our soil.

I’m not an immigration attorney but trade, but I’m aware there are ways to gain legal status while being within oir borders.

That shouldn't be allowed to happen once you enter our country illegally. They should have to go back to their countries and apply to come back legally and only after we have already processed those already waiting in their homelands to come here. It simply isn't fair otherwise and just encourages more to come here without following the legal process.
Illegal immigration suppresses wages for low-skilled workers and takes jobs away from American citizens. The heart of the matter is with employers that hire these people to begin with. Require and enforce e-verify would help, but it probably isn't enough.
Stopping support of the illegals that come here would be a better solution.

I’ll have to refer you to the US goverment to address any qualms you have with their immigration system.
