How is Shipman, Illinois?
I have a cousin moving to Shipman, Illinois... he was wondering if I could find out for him what is it like in Shipman, IL? As far as.... what is there to see, to do, and what type of city is it? Is it "countryish" or is it more "city"?
Thanks! I'd appreciate any and all replys .
Chris

The town is a speed trap. Their one cop is a Barney Fife-type bozo, about 4'8", needs a booster seat to see over the steering wheel, and likes to hand out tickets on the last weekend of the month to random people. Are you driving 20 mph through his precious little town stuck behind a pickup hauling a cattle carrier? Doesn't matter. That reads like "51 in a 35" to him.
And have a nice day, now!

Shipman is a nice small country town
I grew up in Shipman and most of my family still lives there. It is a small town, population 600. It is a dry town. People drink, they just don't buy their beer at the small store in town. If you want to hang out at a bar you are welcome to do so, just do it in the next town over :-). There really isn't anything to do in town. It's so small there is no movie theatre, no bars, etc. The closest theatres/entertainment are in Jerseyville, or Carlinville, or Alton. These towns are all about 30 minutes or so away. If I had children I would probably still live in Shipman, as it is a great place for families. If you are in any way "different" (I'm gay) it can be total hell.

If there was even a comment begging for a Master Card Perfect commercial, you just wrote it.
By far it is the funniest thing I read all week. Thanks for the laugh with a dose of truth inside.

I hear they have some pretty good bluegrass shows at the auction house in Shipman.
