I wasn't. Did you read the thread I was responding to? I too have read threads, got the meaning all wrong and when I go back and re-read I'm going. Sometimes you have to read previous threads again, more carefully to get the meaning.

Wow,

I am considering moving there. All I hear is bad stuff. Hey, when I get there lets fix it! Black folk and white folk alike. If crime is bad. Toss the bad apples in jail. If the town is a mess then lets get together and fix it. Life is what you make it. Reinvent Danville culture. Lets make it our own. All it takes is a plan and willpower. "That is not possible. How is that possible" (Dr. Who). Don't come with problems. Come with answers.

North of Voorhees, and also west of Vermilion is probably the "safest" neighbourhoods. However I grew up almost in Oakwood and they discovered a couple corpses on my grandparent’s property a few months ago, so that doesn't mean a whole lot anymore I guess.

I'll put in a big vote for living in Urbana and commuting, though. Schools are so much better, quality of life is better, and if you can afford to live in the nice parts of Danville you can afford a decent place here.

Default Is crime that bad???

I will be moving here in August 2016; the job was just too good to pass up. We actually went for a visit and it just seemed like a ghost town.... There was really no one anywhere??? So is the crime that bad? I'm originally from Milwaukee, so crime is kind of relative.

A lot of the reviews have been from about 4-5 years ago. Has there been any updates to the area of either positive or negative? We have been told to move Near North Vermillion area, however, can someone tell us exact street areas. Saying south, north, east, west is kind of irrelevant to me (i suck with that kind of direction) but if you were to give us landmarks; parks, supermarkets, school names, etc that would make more sense then direction. We don't have children so School District is not on our radar at this point.....

We plan on renting for a year and then buying. How do we find out about rentals in the areas, real estate companies, Craigslist, newspaper, e.t.c?

Any help that you guys can provide would be very appreciative!
