Default No Electric Washing Machines In Il

Dear Friends:

Please let me clarify my statement. In the Chicago area suburbs - - far and near - - very few people use electric washing machines and electric dryers. That's because there is an abundance of natural gas in the area.
At a garage sale, I met a man returning from a western state. I don't remember which state. However, he said that 'out west' many mountainous communities do not have natural gas. And so they use electricity. Although that garage sale man was trying to sell his almost new electric dryer for a bargain price, there were no 'takers'.
So IF you relocate to the Chicago area, sell your electric washer and dryer before you arrive in this area.

Best Regards,

Carter Glass

Never heard of a "gas" washer.

Most people in Illinois use electric dryers. Very few use gas.

Most new homes have options for both electric and gas dryers. We've always used electric.

My parents' older home only has gas, though.

Like karlsch, I've never seen a "gas" washer. Every washer that I have seen just plugs into the standard 110v outlet.

Default My Mistake

Yes, most of you are correct. So I admit my mistake about a 'gas' washer. I don't know what I was thinking about. Sorry. As a senior citizen of age 66, some times I get off on the wrong footing in the morning.
So as a senior citizen, I am willing to admit my mistake. Do other generations do that, too? Admit their mistakes? I can't say that I have seen many people like that. It might make a better world.

Best Regards,

Carter Glass

I also use an electric dryer, as do most people in rural areas unless they want to hook into their propane. I would prefer gas, but lots of people use electric dryers here.

Electric, here...rural homes in IL lack gas hookups unless they have a propane or similar tank installed on their property. I was raised with electric stove, washer, dryer for this reason. My parents' farm now has a liquid propane tank, and a gas cooking range, but they still run their washer and dryer electrically.
