Light Rail can be used just as much as Rapid Rail transit....and is rarely a boon....

The reason i made the blow on by statement was because originally I had thought someone was not wanting a train to stop at all points from a-b.

Did not mean anything bad. sorry if i came across the wrong way in my thoughts -

I was just making a point that not all towns along the route would need to have a train stop. that is the only point i was trying to make.

For any and all experts on the HSR -
Is the HSR dead in the water now?
I have been trying to find answers on this subject

The only items I can find are projects currently underway are not effected
does anyone know what projects were actually underway in illinois

I think a regular express to St.Louis is good enough to start with.

I think a HSR from Union Station to St. Louis with no stops in between could deliver some amazing time in clement weather. The only problem I can see is the intersecting freight trains. If it could maintain the 125mph, this train would arrive at either destination in under three hours.

Logically, I would think you would still want to include stops at Springfield and Bloomington, but likely none of the others that are currently on that route.

Springfield maybe, but nowhere else. The object of building HSR is defeated by frequent stops. Most of the towns between Chicago and St.Louis are university stops that already have regular service. The only logical HRS is in Chicago and between Chicago and St. Louis.

It may not happen today or tomorrow but it could in this decade. Illinois exports $50B in products every year.
