there is no question about it: here in Chicagoland we tend toknow and take advantage of the offerings of Wisconsin more than we do for downstate Illinois.
And for what it is worth, there is absolutely no mainstream thought in the Chicago area that UI is a better institution than UW. UW is highly respected by far more than its huge alumni base in the metro area and the huge numbers of suburban Chicago high school grads who are thrilled to be going to school in Madison.

What about the people that actually live in Chicago? Your logic is kind of faulty. I know a bunch of suburban $h!twads that praise the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign like it's a god.
People are going to happy to go to a college where they were not only accepted, but chose to go to. It's normal.

Illinois is Climbing upward but is still not a top ranked area of education. Seems poverty holds children back from moving on to college and are likely to fall back into poverty - letting the system go back into full circle!
Many of our schools failed in areas.

I think the person who replied to you was NOT suggesting you were not smart but was refering to you saying that you pay high taxes for poor school ratings. I don't think the poster called you dumb or anything of the sort. I am just skimming along and did not want you to feel like you were being insulted, I think you it was just misread. Have a good day.

I lived in Champaign-Urbana for 7 yrs. Most of the students were from Chicagoland. About 95% of the U of I undergrad students are from Illinois, and most Illinoisans are from Chicago.

This thread should be closed. And I'm going to cyber-smack Steve-O for using the term "fudge-Packers" to describe the greatest football franchise in the history of the sport.

University of Illinois is one of the best public universities in the country, their engineering program is amongst the top few in the country.
I have a feeling you got confused about the universities in Illinois.
FYI- The only school in the league of U of I in the entire state of MO is Washington University and it costs about 45k a year. My sister got her masters there.

I agree that U of I is a fine school. But Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla) can certainly hold its own in engineering with the University of Illinois.

Sorry, you have just revoked your rights to live in the state of IL. Take your cheeshead hat, your Favre jersey, and get out!

I, for one, welcome our new cheesehead overlords. They couldn't do any worse than the circus act currently running things.
