More Galena!
Alright, so I am going to attemp to put these in chronological order for you guys now.
Here it goes...

This was the first pic I snapped after I walked up the stairs from Main Street. I think.

I don't know why, but for some reason I liked this particular church alot. (there were ,like, 4 of them in eyesight from where I was standing.)

Taken from walking up the next set of stairs...

...these ones. (they were REALLY long. A good workout. )

Ok, so now, we are even higher. This was taken two blocks from Main, looking down and towards another church.

A nice, old house (now a B&B) immideatly geting off the last step. It was cool because there was no roads. It was like you had to walk through a park to get to them. (which I didn't do. I turned back after this one.)

Close up of the sign from that last shot. 'Grandview Guest Home, Circa 1870'

The stairs. Going back down.

After we got back down that last set of stairs, we went for a stroll to see more of that first street. (the one with the church on it)

The View. (Main Street below)

Another old house

I"m not sure if this is the same house...

A different church, walking SW.

close up

Back to Main Street!

Across the bridge and into Grant Park...

A REALLY big gazebo in the park. It even had bathrooms in it's basement!

A cannon. There were a bunch of these scattered around the park. Each with their own unique history.

A memorial.

Another memorial, this time dedicated to President Grant. (He was born in Galena. I'll get to that later.)

On the way back to our car

Illinoisboy,
I've never been to Galena, I have to say the town looks so peaceful among the hills. You did a great job capturing the beauty of Galena. I'll have to make a weekend out of Galena and Dubuque...

On the way back to our car.

A really nice B&B on our way home

This is Grant's home. Not as big as others, but it's still nice. We didn't have a chance to go inside, though.

The view from Grant's home.
Well, thats it, guys. I hope you enjoyed my short little tour of Galena!

Nice shots! I used to live out in Sycamore. DeKalb isnt the greatest town, but there is lots of interesting architecture, etc, in the area. I love the Egyptian Theater, but have never been inside. Is the Egyptian theme carried out inside as well?

Thanks! DeKalb and NIU definitely have some great architecture.....great old homes in the central city as well. And while it's downtown definitely can use the revitalization it's planned to receive, it's not that bad of a town (albeit there really isn't much to do in DeKalb or Sycamore for that matter haha). But since I go to NIU, I'm fine with just studying, hanging out, and partying
