My 33 years experience with Rockford: I can't wait to move back! (Chicago: apartment, house)

I'm from Rockford Il. Lived there 33 years of my life.

Looking for an apartment? Terra Creek Apts is great place to live. It's right of State St. near all the shopping. I personally lived at Terra creek for 5 years. Rockford is 1.5 hours from downtown Chicago...45/1 hr minutes from Schaumburg. I use to commute to Schaumburg everyday for 2 years for work. I90 is a common commuter route. I went to Chicago about 3 times a year.

It's a city of bike paths and parks. So if you like to walk or bike you will have TONS of trails you can go to. Below are some links to thinks I love about Rockford. I can't wait to go back when my husband retires. We still own a home there.

What else what else.. if you love to golf.. dont get me started there...... I think you get my point.. Rockford has something for you to do whether it's cold or warm... Alot of Rockfordians take for granted all of the great programs they have for residences. Where do you think all your tax money goes? I'd love to bring all of Rockfordians to Fayetteville NC and NONE of them would ever COMPLAIN again. Matter of fact I'm sure most Rockfordians would cry after one day here bahahaha.

As for housing in Rockford TAXES are REDONCULOUS I own a home there.. but there market has tanked so there are tons of deals to be found. So buy a house now... mine dropped 20k You are bound to find some beautiful homes at a steal of a price.

For all those RPS205 schools system bashers.. I never got a college degree and made 68k a year prior to marrying and moving to NC in 2008. I loved Rockford schools. Being an active parent is key. I'm an East ERAB and proud of it. I went to Lincoln middle school. School is what you make of it. You will see other kids struggling and it's not the 'school system's' fault. It's parental. PERIOD. Yes there is crime..but if you don't do drugs, sell drugs, or hang around those type of people.. chances are good that you won't have issues.

The ONLY thing and I mean the ONLY thing I will miss about the south is the weather and maybe the ocean. That's it though.
