Akron is a trash pit full of drug addicts with no jobs, and has a far higher crime rate than Rockford, a more stagnant economy, and highways that are in far worse shape than ROckford. Canton, Ohio, just down the road, is a little better, but Rockford is still far nicer than Canton. Before comparing ROckford to a trash pit like Akron, at least visit both cities and take a realistic look at each. Akron is, by midwestern standards, a scary, trashy, dump of a city. Rockford looks fairly decent.

Does Akron still host the Soap Box Derby?

What I like about Rockford is that this city is FINALLY get rid of the ped. mall. They should have gotten rid of the N. Main and S. Main back about the time when the W. State side was removed. Maybe downtown could come back to life, one can hope though. But what I have seen in Rockford's downtown that it has changed for the better with new retail business going in and residential. Living in downtown may not be for everyone, but I would not mind giving it a try. Also since I go jogging on the bike path that is another plus for Rockford. Rockford still has alot of trees, something I rarely saw in my travels in life. There is good and bad in every city and for once I would like to see the good in Rockford such as it being better managed by not building up the East side so much how about the West side for once, just my opinion in a opinionated world. Also how about less retail businesses moving in to the Perryville and State area and how about manufacturing. We have to many box stores and restaurants WAY out there.
