I thought Texas has it in their state constitution? The U.S. government would have a hard time stopping that in court.

Probably true, but IMO, the whole idea is silly. These ideas come up frequently in many states, California being one example. Nothing has ever happened. It would probably be more trouble than it's worth.

Didn't the UP try to annex itself to MN? I think the move failed because both MI and MN would have to sign off on it. |

My comments were a direct response to those from southern Illinois and central Illinois that feel their tax dollars are being sent to Chicago, that notion is absolutely insane...
Chew on this as well.. Split up the state, what happens to places such as Springfield that relies on so many state jobs?? Champaign, Bloomington-Normal, Carbondale, Macomb and Charleston that rely on instate college students to drive the economy of their communities?? The many towns that rely on state prisons for many jobs? What happens when those college students go elsewhere? When the Chicagoland area keeps their own prisoners??? Their own state jobs? |

Or what happens when the Chicago-based Governor starts building all these prisons in southern Illinois, then runs out of money and leaves them half-finished? Absolutely nothing. He doesn't care. There's been a half-built one where I grew up for over 6 or 7 years now...it's such an eyesore...

You're right. Kankakee County--close enough! And he's still a piece of sh*t too.

Kankakee County is downstate, you should have liked that...

Isn't he in jail? Governor # 3? (Kerner and Walker before him).

Actually, to pick a nit, Walker did not go to jail due to anything he did as governor. That way, he kept his pension.
