Which state schools are good:
Western Illinois, Eastern, Northern, Southern, U of I Champaign, U of I chicago, U of I Springfied |

Depends on what you are going for. For instance, Western isn't the strongest in all areas, but has a great police training program. What are you interested in?
Of all of those, I would say UIUC has the best reputation. UIC and UIUC are the two that are known in other states, the rest aren't as well known. |

Agreed, depends what you want to do.
For example, NIU is OK overall, but has an Top 10 accounting program, and nationally recognized business school. Also good nursing and teaching, and the only meteorology school in the state. SIU has a great medical school UIC is very research oriented in areas like medicine. U of I is good overall, but very difficult to get into. So you need to be more specific. If you dont know what you want to do yet, it might pay to go somewhere cheaper for a while to get your gen-eds out of the way, and then possibly transfer after a couple years. |

I think SIU is pretty great for teachers too (as is ISU).....so it depends on the desired major!

U of I Champaign-Urbana is the highest ranked overall. It's one of the top public universities in the USA.
Its engineering schools rank with the best in the world-right up there with MIT, etc. It is also noted for computer science. The Web browser was developed there by a grad student. If you have Internet Explorer 6 on your computer, click on "Help" and then on "About." "Hal" the fictional computer in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" also came from the U of I. Im not sure about learning dissabilities. However, I do know in general the agriculture track has pretty high acceptance rates (at least compared to business, engeneering, etc)

Ask questions about what services they offer. If you think of further questions, go back and ask some more. Some colleges have offices like these as just a token effort to make sure they're basically in compliance with ADA, while others really want to enhance the success of students with disabilities. Seeking lots of info on what each school offers in this area not only will help you learn whether they offer the kinds of services most suited to your daughter's needs, but should also give you an idea whether the school approaches this situation with the right attitude. Best of luck with the college search, and best wishes to your daughter in her future endeavors. |

Does U of I take into consideration that my daughter may not have a high ACT score due to her learning disability? Her GPA is 3.0 She wants to go to U of I because of their good agriculture program

Also, schools are required by law to make accomodations for students who are admitted! |
