Why is there a forum for only Chicago and the Chicago burbs?? There are other Cities in Illinois, aren't there? Let's see if I remeber correctly, I believe there is Peoria, Rockford, Two pair of twins - Bloomington/Normal, and Champaign/Urbana (there's also Anna/Jonesboro, and LaSalle/Peru, but they haven't grown up yet). And then there's the lovely Capital of Springfield. As fas as suburbs go, the metro east of Saint Louis is one of the bigger regions in the state. So why only two sub forums??

With your above membership name, I assume that with 'AG', you are talking about an agricultural degree. So why not also consider Decatur, Illinois in your list of large city names? In Chicago, one does not find much agricultural related employment. But in Decatur, Illinois, there is Archer Daneils Midland, one of the largest seed oil companies in the world.
In the past, I have suggested to City - Data to start a Forum on farming. In that manner, a 'city bo' like me can ask technical questions. So here is one for you. Does the Harvestore silo have a low pressure vacuum system on it? That would permit the grain to stay dry better? One time I asked my farming friend in Rushville, Illinois. But he didn't seem to know. 'Got an answer for me? ![]() Best Regards, Carter Glass |

Because Springfield, Bloomington/Normal, Champaign/Urbana, and especially LaSalle/Peru & Anna/Jonesboro threads would sit practically empty and serve little purpose.

I would support a Midstate subforum for Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, Danville, Decatur, Peoria, and Springfield.

The forum breakdowns are based on numbers of postings, right now the current system works fine for Illinois. No disrespect at all to Central Illinois.

In case anyone is interested, there is an ADM plant in East Chicago, IN about two hundred yards outside of Chicago. And, of course, in the city there is the famous CHAS, the Chicago High School of Agricultural Sciences.
Why not a Quad cities forum for all those folks 'way out west? Once, again, the unremitting rule of numbers comes into play. There are just fewer of those folks. |

The general Illinois forum is fairly slow and that's the entire state except for Chicago & The Burbs. Anymore subforums would be dead-dead-dead.

Yeah I don't really see a point in creating another Illinois forum. I am a St. Louis suburbanite on the Illinois side of the river and I don't think they need a Metro East forum either....But, I do think that there needs to be a link from the Illinois section to the "Suburban St. Louis" section, since St. Clair county (directly on the otehr side of the river from STL) has 250,000+ inhabitants.
I also think that the St. Louis forum should include the metro east, because many people ask about the Illinois suburbs of St. Louis in the Illinois forum, and others do them in the St. Louis forum. It would be nice to have everyone working together in unison! |
