Candlewick Lake - Poplar Grove (Compton: private school, to live, cost)

I agree with the harrassment issue. i do have a scanner, but mostly it sits and collects dust!
I am sure that the complaintents (sp) are singleing me out due to the fact that I dont just sit back and take what they are dishing out. Just yesterday three kids were walking thru my cul-de-sac, and I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they didnt know which house I had to go to so I slowed down almost to a stop to let them get out of the way...instead they started to mouth off and say I tried to run them over. Me being who I am, I let them know what I thought and extended an invitation for thier daddys, or uncles, or whoever else lives in thier house to "come on down" and get a little crazy white boy madness.
Needless to say, I spent the evening on my front porch with a beer and a bat and nobody showed.
Ignorance. Just plain ignorance.

On another note...I dont mind being served papers, you know like divorce or restraining orders, but I am curious, what kind of lies do the process servers say to our gate people to get in? I would gladly come out to the office, but they letg just anyone in. Hmmmmmm.

Oh, why was the helicopter in the air over our nieghborhood so long last night around 1030-1100pm?????

If they are told that they are process servers they just let them in. They do not show ID. Sometimes they have municiple plates and that is how they know. I was told that by one of the guards. They also let in anyone that says that they are from any of the restaurants in the area, EVEN if the person is on the Banned list. I know due to seeing one driving around with one of the pizza places sign on the top of the car. Maybe they need to check thier ID the first time they come thru on their shift, wait that would mean that would be more work for the gate guard, some of them just look at the ID and do nothing else. Or the restaurants need to fax over a list of all their employees names and vehicle info that would be making deliveries to CWL.

If you are going to the restaurant that is all you have to say and they let you in - no ID is even asked for. Same thing on Sundays' when it is open from 2 -4 for open houses any one can get in just say they are there to look at houses.

I have also spoken to one of the sherriff's and asked about all the drugs being dealt and being smoked in plain sight. I was told that public safety is suppose to report it to them when it is brought to their attention. I did let the SGT know of one and asked about the one and was told they have no record of ever getting it. HMM, I wonder what ever happen. So, if you make a complaint about that make sure you also call it into Boone Crime Stoppers too, then you might just get some money legally and something might get done.

I can easily say that I will not call and report things to any police department. Unless of course the "crime" or "occurrence" is affecting my nieghbors' or friends' homes or well being.
I handle my issues with the person directly so the Po-Po cant intrude on my curtilage.

I recieved a private message from someone on this thread; I will share what was asked to maybe get an answer....
Better yet I will start a thread to ask about it.

Lets have a good ol honest thread about the experiences CWL residents have had concerning crime. I know this will get the Lake Livers(lakeside home owners) all in a tussy, but its time we started to voice what is happening.
Obviously going to board meetings is being ignored, so maybe the public talking about it will put the seriousness out there.
Here is mine, jsut a small one to get everyone started...

Five children(ages 15-17) walked by my mailbox and ripped it from the post. Same kids that walk down the middle of the street and talk an incoherent language that I think originated in Oakland California.

See, just a small one, but come on people, WAKE UP! The government has put people into these homes in our gated community and destroyed values due to the crime increase.
I just think most people are afraid to speak up because of Political Correctness overtaking this country.
To hell with PC!!! I cant wait for the day that one of these kids knock on my door...better yet have thier daddy or gaurdian or whoever come on by and have a chat with me face to face instead of being a coward and stealing in the middle oif the night. Ask me, or tell me you want to steal from me, then try it in front of me...Then we can talk.

And yes its the Hood right now. i love living in candlewick, a gated community what I dont like is having to live amongst people who dont care about the community.

I just realized.....bulldawg1594 must be a lake liver....you know, the people who wanted to ban all non lake livers from the lake!!!
See I told you they would pitch a fit. They all sit in there houses and only see the lake side. How about getting involved and fight to have some sort of control over who can rent in the hoood.!!!!

Where are ya bulldawg1594? Im on this thread too. I am not stopping until I get at least one person to admit the problem in CWL...er, East St Louis, aka South central LA, aka North Milwaukee, aka Cabrinni Green, aka Compton.

When we admit the problem to ourselves then to the board something can be done about it. We will have a hard time convincing the GM, er the "Dodge Challenger Man" to get involved because all he wants is the Assosiation money paid from the government. This is all a temporary situation but is dangerously close to being irreversible.
Too bad people sue so easy for assault.

What is the difference?? Your going to have the section 8 and "hood" in every part of the state/ country. To avoid this you would need to live in a rich town where the gov will think twice to allow renters. "You get what you pay for" What you need to do is write letters to complain to the board, have alot of people sign the petition, keep writing letters even if they ignore them, take pictures of events to prove it, get witnesses, send letters via certified, THEN you have a case with CWL and seek a lawyer. if some of these problems affect your daily life and your not getting service you pay into ( Association). I however agree with you that many abuse the section 8 privilege and scam off good people (Tax). What your doing to stop it is not enough.... Certified letters, Pictures, Witnesses, Name & Numbers...Watch how the board will listen to you

I am glad a clearheaded seemingly educated person has responded.
I have inquired to one prominent member of the board about how to go about making changes in this situation. The advice that I was given was to embrace it because it is not going to change.
In order to put in effect ANY change to the CCRs, assosiation rules or any other name for the rules is to get 100% respose from the entire nieghborhood. We all know that would be impossible. We hardly get 500-600 ballotts returned on the elections so how would we expect to get 100% of the residents (owners of record) to respond?
We should take matters into our own hands when it comes to crime in our community. Our Public Safety has proven that pictures are only good for giving US speeding tickets and trash can violations!! In addition, pictures are tough to take when the criminals are afraid to commit crime in front of anyone.
Another point that was told to me from this board member; the community representatives are afraid to offend anyone or face discrimination charges. Hmmm, I thought that they had our (the community) best interest at hand...We can ban people from our hood for crimes commited inside the gates but we cant prevent criminals from moving in?
This whole thing would actually go away if all the baby daddies and mamas would teach thier kids respect for others and how to respect what they are being given. This goes for all of the spoiled kids that have no respect as well. See, I do realize its not all the gov trash.....its alot of kids in the hood trying to be gangbangers.
