You should be fine. I have had no problems in 4 years. There is some riff raff towards the west gate though. Crap outside the property looks like poop. I have been doing a lot of investigating and it is amazing at the skeletons some of these people have. Way Too many sex offenders. I also think we need a violation for people wearing their hats cocked to the left or to the right. This is known sign. It does not mean every person who has their hat cocked is in a gang. But it sure does cause problems when gang members come across these so-called uninformed individuals with their hats cocked. Funny also our GM of Candlewick's son has his hat cokced all of the time. If that were my kid I would take that cap from him!

bulldawg-you'll have to give me some source other than wikipedia because their known to be totally incorrect & most colleges wont even let you use them as an online resource. When I first was looking out here I did do research online for the area & it came back with low income, uneducated & unemployed to be the norm for the area. Im only going by what I read. If Im wrong, Im wrong, so be it. Im actually hoping I am because I could really stand to find a job in this area however there is NOTHING!! Not even in Rockford can you find a job right now..

"I don't understand how these "low income" familys can pay their water bills out there, unless they are getting help from the state."
They cant get help from the State because when I lost my job & we were really struggling the State said the cannot help because we have a private water company & Aqua will not accept payments from the State. Just another perk of living in CWL. I do agree w/you though, I dont know how they can afford it, with all of our bills we can barely afford to pay it monthly!

"It was a nice place at first, but now it's no better than the trailer park down the street."
I bet the trailer park has less crime & problems then CWL & they dont pay dues or outrageous water bills.

"Unfortunately I'm stuck there and will not be able to sell my house until the market turns around. But by then, I'm afraid the market values of living in Candlewick because of the crime, will be so bad I wont be able to sell it for what we paid."
The house Im living in we did rent to own but the seller was trying for 2 years to sell & gave up to renting & that was before the housing market dropped.

ATTENTION CANDLEWICK RESIDENTS... DID YOU GET THIS LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM A RESIDENT IN CANDLEWICK TITLED," THE CANDLEWICK VOICE. A CAUSE FOR CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITY." PLEASE READ THE EXCERPT FROM THE NOTICE AND I STRONLY BELIEVE IF YOU CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR COMMUNITY WE NEED TO CONTACT THIS GENTLEMAN @ CANDLEWICK_VOICE @ YAHOO.COM AND SIGN HIS PETITION CONCERING OUR PUBLIC SAFETY. MAYBE SOMETHING GOOD CAN FINALLY COME OUT OF THIS. SEE BELOW:
Candlewickers,

We have been unit (property) owners in Candlewick, since Oct 31, 1996. A lot has changed with in that time, but what hasn’t changed is our security department.

Three years ago, when I realized how big Candlewick had grown and the problems that were going to be ahead of us. I researched outsourcing our public safety for a board member, which is no longer on the board.

I took the SPI Proposal and their top guys to a public safety meeting. I liked this company, out of the three that I had found, for the reasons listed below.

 • They work in conjunction with Boone County Police Dept and Candlewick.
 • They are already trained and insured, which we no longer have to absorb these costs.
 • This company came highly recommended from several references.
 • The professionalism is outstanding.
 • They have legal right to act as law enforcers.
 • SPI will do a better job for the same price we are paying now.

I don’t want to spend the money on this sad excuse of Public Safety any longer. We have outgrown our little group of officers. We need to open our eyes and see that we are dealing with things that we are not capable of handling any longer on our own. Drive by shootings, crack houses, burglaries, dead children, a drowning in the lake, attempted rape by a landlord to their tenant, lots of vandalism of gang signs, gang bangers, over 5 registered sex offenders living behind the gates with us, etc. Unfortunately, these are the reasons we need to step out of the box and change our thinking.

In the last 13 years, we have installed a security system, inside and outside the house, yet I also pay for the Public Safety. The bottom line is our Public Safety that is currently in place CAN NOT protect us. Boone County Sheriff’s Dept will not patrol, but will only answer calls to our home.

Since the Public Safety Committee WILL NOT bring this to the Board of Directors, I’m bringing it to you. Please go online and sign the petition for these changes.

Like I said in my previous post, I did research online before moving here. Therefore it was not my opinion in the first place. I dont understand why your getting so angry over this post, tis really not that big of a deal? Im not worried about it, Im worried about that crap that moved into the subdivision.

I have lived in CWL for almost 2yrs & Im just glad we rent! We can get out when our lease is up, we were going to rent to own in here but not anymore. Our house has had attepmted breakins 3times & Boone County Sheriff tracked the people to there house but never arrested them, said they had no proof but we had their finger prints all over our bedroom window. We now own a huge German Shepherd for protection. We have a small 1,200sqft house with 2 adults & 2 kids, our water bill every month is $120.00, which is ridiculous! I mean in the summer you have to worry about how much the kids can play in the sprinkler or little pool & yes they have an outdoor pool but its $50.00 to get in for the year & last summer with the weather the way it was we only got to go 3 times. The association dues are high, as renters we only pay $35.00 per month but since our landlord didnt pay his dues Candlewick turned off our guest list & C-pass(to get in the gate) we had to fight to get it back on & they said soon it will be turned off permantly until he pays it! The gang activity is in CWL they have been spraying all the foreclosed homes with profanity & gang symbols & then the association refuses to clean it off because the homes are bank owned. The biggest problem I see in here is CWL now allows Section 8 low income housing to live in here because their guanteede payment from the government, now I have nothing against Section 8 people as long as they work & arent a bunch of nasty, low lifes which thats what we have here in CWL. None of them work & they have at least 5 people in each house. The schools arent good here at all, we came from McHenry County & my son was doing more work in first grade there than he is in fourth grade here! The schools are only rated 52% for academics, you can go on GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community to see for yourself. In second grade my son was cutting out bunnies & turkeys for work in the class, never any homework, hes actually bored at this school. I wouldnt consider moving here ever, once you buy a house your stuck here because NO ONE buys homes in here ever!! The homes are for sales for years before they either foreclose or they rent it out. My landlord has his home up for sale for 3yrs before he finally had to rent it out. My best advice is stay away from Candlewick Lake at all costs, if your looking for cheaper living out here go to the actual town of Poplar Grove & buy a home, there beautiful homes for cheap & there isnt all the added expense & troubles of the gated community. Hope this helps..

Allison in wonderland, this was sent to all CWL Residents you included and yes this consists of a large group of homeowners over 100+ that is striving to make the changes the Board fails to do anything about, I hear alot of complaining but no one has the balls enough to join the group.
Do not quote one person on your post unless you have stated all the facts. go to the email if you would like more information.
