Isn't there a Davis Brothers location off of Glen?

Of course, no Peoria-area pizza discussion would be complete without mentioning Agatuccis, a local favorite.

Agatucci's

Oops! Agatucci has been in Peoria for 50 or 60 years. If I remember correctly they were located elsewhere before they moved into the building on University. There was an event that facilitated the move but I don't remember what it was.

The building that I knew where the Davis brothers sold pizza in 1949 was ultimately purchased by the city and razed. After that, at various times, it was in Creve Coeur, Dunlap, Peoria, Peoria Heights, and back in East Peoria. The newest location seems to be in Fondulac Plaza. I don't know if it is still in Peoria or not. Bad timing, or for whatever reason I never saw it, or looked for it, on Glen.

After so many moves I lost track of it and found a great substitute at Penguin Tap in Peoria Heights which was sold 3-4 years ago because the owners retired.

Until this year I was unable to go to Peoria for any reason for over six years. Where is Davis Bros. on Glen?

There's a shopping center around the intersection of Glen and Sheridan, I believe, where I thought I saw a Davis Bros. sign on my last visit to Peoria... I googled this and found an odd Internet entry for Davis Brothers at 1114 W Glen Ave. I called the phone number and it appears to not be in service. Anyway, I don't know the history of this location at all or if this is an inaccuracy that I found online... Maybe someone else can confirm if there is/was a location for Davis Bros. on Glen.... Sorry!

Doglover, you are right; Google is wrong which comes a no surprise either way. It is South of Glen & Sheridan - on Sheridan behind Walgreen's in a small shopping center. It explains why I never saw a sign on Glen. Next time try this query: Peoria, IL Davis Bros. Pizza

By the way they ship, I may try it just for fun.

Default Pizza?

Much as I love pizza, let's kick this conversation back to Peoria for Middle-Aged Couples... although a "Pizza In Peoria" thread would be cool on its own!

Which surrounding communities would you recommend? For example, I thought I saw a disparaging thread on Dunlap, but favorable mention of Chillicothe.

Default Pizza in Peoria

The best way to find Pizza in Peoria is in the phone book. It has its own category.

The Peoria area is not compact like Chicago where communities blend seamlessly into each other Most are separated by miles of farmland. As a consequence each community developed its own characteristics, personality and economy. Most have developed a string of ugly commercial buildings on busy major roads. Eye-candy tells you absolutely nothing about the heart and soul of a community.

South of Peoria is Bartonville, the hill to Glasford, farms, and Mapleton.

East is Tazewell County, East Peoria, Morton, and farms to the county line. The NE portion of the county ends south of 116 and German Hills probably at the McCluggage Bridge. County lines are not well defined. .

I've heard that Washington, IL has some nice amenities, including the newer Five Points events space. Anyone else know specifics?
