Angry Haven't received my license back, Why?

Hi, I just wanted to know if you can offer help with info on what steps I can take in getting my license back. In July of 2011 I was pulled over for what the cops stated in Illinois was for illegal lane usage (they need a reason to pull you over, amazing that this is the number one reason for most). Well after doing so, to make a long story short, they charged me with a DUI, Illegal lane usage, failure to signal, I refused to take the Field Sobriety Test, I went to court, I had the MPPD device put on my car, during this time my car was not performing up to par and was not drivable, being you have to take the car into the station that installs the device, I called Springfield and explained about my car, they informed me that I could have it removed and when the car was drivable again to call and have the device reinstalled, in the meantime of this I'm sill going to court, after everything was done, I was found not guilty of the DUI, but the judge kept the tickets in place, which add up to over $1500.00 (I'm being shystered I know) I paid the reinstatement fee for refusing the sobriety test, the expiration date for the summary suspension is no longer in place, I received the letter from Springfield stating this and was informed to return to the Clerk of Cook County, I was told that I'm legal to drive but my DL is still not returned, why is that? What am I supposed to drive with if it is legal for me to drive? Can you help with an answer?

Have you contacted the DOT in your area? They might have the answers. Maybe it is simply a paperwork error. Or, contact the clerk of court...there maybe be additional requirements that you've missed. I take it you didn't hire an attorney, otherwise I'd suggest contacting them.

You weren't being hijacked; You broke the law. It is an expensive experiment in Illinois. You're lucky it wasn't Scott's Law, a School Zone or a Construction Zone. If the letter specifically states you can use the letter in lieu of the DL until it is returned you are extremely lucky. Otherwise you cannot legally drive in Illinois without a valid driver's license. Call the Cook County Circuit Court Clerk and see if they can shed any light as to why they need to see you? It might be paperwork you need to sign. If your license was released you can drive to Springfield and get it.

Why the hell would he have to drive to Springfield to get his DL back?? And how's he supposed to do that if he doesn't even have it in the first place?

Call the court that heard your case and ask them why you have not received it back yet.

One goes to Springfield when there is no other choice, and it is requirement to get license back.

No it isn't.

On the list of bizarre and random things you say, this is definitely near the top.

Just what exactly is illegal lane usage in Illinois? Is it like going in the wrong direction?

Do they still use the term DIU? Tell them they're behind. My youngest daughter was charged with OVI last November. This stands for Operating Vehicle Intoxicated. Not that it's going to change anything.

Good luck with getting your DL back. I really mean it. Too bad they don't give you a chance. My daughter was charged with this thing 3 times prior, but twice for drinking underage, and finally the judge has ordered to go into a program. Beats me what took them so long.
