Indianapolis does not cover all of Marion County, it covers about 85% of it.

If we are going to compare Marion County's population to Chicago, why not compare it to Cook County? Then you're looking at over 5 times the size.

Point is, by the 2010 Population Census, Chicago IS over three times the size of Indianapolis in population. Estimates are just that, estimates, and are sometimes exaggerated and wrong. Even using the 837,000 estimate, Chicago is STILL over three times larger in terms of city population. Case closed.

I used the official Indianapolis City Limits.
If Chicago annexed all of Cook County then we could make an arguement with that.
The Census loves to play this game with the city limits of Indy. they include then exclude certain towns and neighborhoods.
Its just easier to use the same official definition of the Indianapolis city limits since 1969. Which is all of Marion County EXCEPT Speedway/Lawrence/Southport and Beech Groove.

Heck ill never forget this. in 2009 the Census estimate Fulton County, Georgia/Atlanta to have 10% more people than it actually did in the 2010 census.
Another closer to home example is the census estimated in 2009 Indianapolis had 803,000 people. well turns out that was short about 27,000 people cause the offical 2010 census gave Indy a population of just under 830,000.
Detroit. they over estimated the population.
Chicago? under estimated the decline. as with detroit.
I will not believe Census estimates or use them and hold my breathe. The Real Census every 10 years is where its at and theres no reason to debate that.
This is highly inaccurate. The Census is notorious for under-counting, for a variety of reasons.

The most reliable population estimates typically come from state or local demographers' offices.

The census is an estimate. It primarily used to point out where the most people, work, shop and go to school in every state. The US Census like the MSA is used for statistical purposes by the Census Bureau and other agencies.

I worked for the 2010 Census. I know exactly how it works and its pitfalls.

Claiming that it is "the best and most accurate way to paint a picture" and that there is "no reason to debate" that belies a serious ignorance of how the Census actually works.

I don't appreciate being called ignorant based on your alleged census work. If You have a specific complaint rephrase it and maybe I will reply. .

I didn't call you ignorant. I said that BRG's outrageous claims-- which he represents as fact-- belie HIS ignorance. Please be less selective in your reading.
