I'm looking for opinions on the following apartment complexes in Peoria: Cityscape, Landmark, and Heartland apartments. This area is ideal as I will be starting rotations at the hospitals, and is also close to downtown. But I have read reviews (from years ago) that these complexes are not very safe or well-maintained. I have looked at other places in Peoria, but was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on these three apartments specifically. Thanks.

No. Run away. There is a valid reason why the rents on these 3 complexes are so low. They are in what is probably the worst area of Peoria as far as crime goes. Plus, I believe that at least 1 of them is Section 8/low income housing.

The Twin Towers downtown comes to mind as a very safe/nice place to live, but may be out of your price range. They are privately owned, so you would be dealing with the condo owner, not a company. I would contact the school and ask for their recommendations.

Call the towers for the phone number of the rent/lease manager. I think it is Janice. I don't remember if they have a studio for rent or not. The last time I talked to her the 1 bd still rented for $700. You can find a decent studio in Peoria in a decent area for under $500. The problem lies in traffic/distance.

You might be better off in Peoria Heights and here's why. Far less traffic; shorter stop lights, and the area is very quiet at night. In the middle of Peoria Heights at the 4-way stop you're 3 stop lights from Proctor Hospital (Prospect to Knoxville)to; 4 stop lights plus 1 stop sign from OSF campus (Prospect to NE Glen Oak). OSF and Methodist are about 2 blocks apart on the same street.

Now is the time when you will find the most rentals. If you are interested in Peoria Heights, call the Village Clerk for rentals.

Do not rent on any streets with a state name ie: Missouri, WI. The City of West Peoria is a great place to live. The west bluff (City of Peoria) not so much. These are two different names of places in the same general location. The City of West Peoria is surrounded by the west bluff. a section of land within the city limits of the City of Peoria where Bradley is located. Sections of Main, University, Farmington Road, and Western Avenue are its major streets. To the best of my knowledge the west bluff does not extend south of Moss and Western Avenues.

This website works well. I did a fast check. Peoria: 0 beds 1 bath = 3 studio apartments. Peoria: 1 bed 1 bath = 6 units. The studio is the least expensive unit. Most of the streets with state names = BIG trouble.

West Peoria is nice, but more out of our way.

I can vouch for Peoria Heights where I both live and work now. It's a pleasant place.

The City of West Peoria is about six blocks in size. Many of the homes are brick bungalows of the 1940s that have been well maintained. There is a fire department and a grocer. The area around it can be sketchy.

For the OPs purpose the City of West Peoria is perfectly safe. The issue is the east bound traffic on Main Street in the morning, and the left turns. It may not be such a good deal.
