I wish they would have had one when I lived there! Ive been wanting to learn how to play ice hockey (instead of street on inlines), but nothing was around the area. There are several out closer to Chicago, but theyre always booked and crowded.

I absolutely think so. My husband is a hockey player, playing 2-3 times a week, and has to drive into the suburbs to do so. My daughter was a competitive figure skater and had to give it up when we moved out here. It was really hard for her to give it up too because she was REALLY devoted to the sport. The town is growing but could really use more recreational activities!

Since the Rochelle/DeKalb area is growing, Why not? nearest one being in rockford, think it's time they did something like that.

Not to mention NIU Could help with it and start their own Men's and Women's Ice Hockey teams too. then in the offseason have your Ice Arena rental!

They tried to allow for an ice arena in the Convocation Center but could not allocate enough (student) funds for it. NIU already has their own hockey club, but its difficult to bring any new men's sport up to D1 due to title XI.

I can't believe that they don't already have one. Give it a few more years though. Since the sprawl of Chicago is seeping into Dekalb county, the influx of people is going to bring more than just an Ice Arena I am afraid.
