Carbondale~Giant City!
Amtrak is right on "THE STRIP" in C-dale ....There are several places to eat around the train station. Mary Lous is so good!!! It is a little ol fashion resturant that is only open to 2pm! But it is fast, good, and CHEAP!!! Quatros and Pag's was pretty good for pizza as well as Booby's Bar and Grill for subs..... Also a neat place to stay is Giant City Lodge..It is on the south side of Carbondale just take Giant City Rd and then follow the signs! They have a all you can eat chicken dinner family style there as well. Giant City has cabins, pool, campground, lake, horse stables, visitors center, parks, and several hiking trails you can take around here.
Here is the link to Giant City!!!

Need a house to rent before christmas!
Hello out there to all of you Southern Illinois residents! I live in Northern Illinois and transferring to SIU-Carbondale for the start of Spring Semester. I'm looking for a reasonably priced house in the Marion area to rent for me and my little one. I'm a full-time student and work 3 jobs now, and hope to continue the chain when I move. I'm a veteran of the area, but have been away for a few yrs attending a community college in Northern Illinois. Ready to move back to be closer to family! Anyone have any scoop on a house for rent that is reasonably priced? I would sure appreciate any input on this matter. Thank you!

Beware of New Hope Christian Learning Center. The center director has quite the lengthy criminal past. This is the moral compass for your two year old as well as all the children at the center she has contact with???
here you will find links to all her indiscretions, and by indiscretions i mean criminal felonies! Williamson County, IL | Case Search

Beware of New Horizons Modular Homes
Marion is a great town. All of southern Illinois is very nice. I have researched N.H. Homes and found several HUGE hidden charges complaints and BAD customer service. Check with Attorney General before shopping there.

kokopelli is probly one of the nicest neighbor hoods. Safe, great location, golfcourse, and much more. Right out there by the mall and the movie theatre and resturants. I have lived here my whole life pretty great.

Retire to Marion
Are there any problems with flooding or water problems in Marion? Are there sufficient sewers/and or culverts to divert the water from people's basements
and property? If so, which parts of Marion are affected within the city and the outlying areas just outside of town?
Thanks in advance for open, honest comments about your personal experiences with regard to any possible flooding issues.
