Hi, I currently live in CT and I am a Realtor and work in the mortgage service industry. Real Estate in CT has been treating me very well however I would like to relocate to Chicago. How is the Real Estate Market in Chicago? Is it fair to expect a commission in the triple digits? My major concern is starting out again in a new Market. I do speak Russian and Polish hoping this would help me as well.

While anything possible I would not "bet the farm" on being able to match your income when relocating. Chicago and the whole region have many mortgage firms and competition for deals is intense. A little "mowimy popolusku" might be helpful in some neighborhoods but there are hundreds of thousands of third generation ++ folks with Polish ancestory that are fully integrated. OTOH in some areas there are some pretty tight Russian communities but if you are a newcomer language skills will not matter as much as ties to specific families ...

You might want to post the question to the Chicago forum.

If you want to come here to sell real estate ... and you understand it's a commission position ... have enough to live on for 6 months to a year before you start earning commissions sufifcient to support yourself. You'll need to have skills above and beyond what's here already, I'm thinking, ... because there are so many other people selling who have a more intimate knowledge of the city/area and the marketplace than you do.
