My family were originally from south suburbs of Chicago just of a few months ago. Due to unforeseen circumstances we relocated to Clarksville, Tn. The whole family dislikes the town very much. So we are interested in moving back to Il,but just away from the suburbs & the city. We are looking for an area that isnt too small,as long it has stuff to do for my two high school children & for the whole family to enjoy. It has to be an affordable area, please anything not ghetto.($0-$75,000) We do realize we do not want anything fancy, just a nice area we can call home.

Funny, I had the exact same experience in the exact same town. lol I couldnt stand the city at all, didnt last long there. We moved back to Chicagoland too, but have yet to find anything even remotely close to the price youre looking for. Im not too sure about housing prices out in the boonies, but Im sure you can find something. Im not sure what your kids are looking for, but being out in a small country town there will be even less to do than in Clarksville (imagine that!!!).

... You may become quickly over whelmed by everyone's suggestions. And that is because there are many beautiful towns that will fit your initial statements / requirements.
So your very first decision is to decide where you are going to be employed. Then decide what larger municipallity you want to live near. Then, how far will you 'put up' with your daily driving distance to work? How isolated do you want to be? Do you want a town where everyone knows your family business and history? Believe it or not, that is highly diserable - - because very friendly neighbors will come to your rescue during a family emergency. In large towns, most people won't care if you exist. So why not be more selective in what you want and then share that with us? In that manner, we can fine tune our recommendations. ![]() Carter Glass |

I just remembered a town that you might want to check out: Virgil. Its a tiny, tiny town situated between Wasco and Sycamore. While the town itself has absolutely nothing to do, youre a short 10-15 minute drive on Rt. 64 into St. Charles, Geneva, etc, where there is everything in the world to do.
